In light of his destruction of Dillan Carman, I'd like to see Slo-Mo Joe fight Evgeny Romanov. Romanov is a powerful and quick puncher how, while undersized (height), he is one to watch. I think it would be an amazing matchup.

I'd like to see that one too, but sadly no way it happens.

Joe isn't the quickest admittedly, but there are plenty of heavies who have done really well despite being slow of hand and foot. Foreman did ok didn't he? Ok before anyone starts, I am not suggesting Joyce is remotely near GF's level.

Joyce v Breazeale would be a cracking fight but I think Breazeale will probably get his title shot next now that Fury has left Wilder standing at the altar.

I'd pick Joyce to beat Breazeale. Maybe I overrate him but I can't help thinking that a boxer who won an Olympic Silver Medal (Gold were it not for decidedly dodgy judging) must have more about him than has been suggested so far by what my eyes are telling me. I'd like to think he only bothers with defence if he considers his opponent capable of hurting him. Time will tell, I'll keep an open mind.

I seem to recall there being a certain amount of public outcry that was provoked by Tony Yoka beating Joe Joyce to gain the super-heavyweight boxing gold in the 2016 Olympics, but I feel that most of the people that bitterly complained about the result didn’t realise that the scoring criteria in amateur boxing is different to professional boxing.

For example: in the amateurs, body shots are rarely recognised, and punches must land particularly clean and thrown technically perfect to be scored. So based on that criteria, the result seemed fair to me, as I thought Yoka won the first two rounds, due to his superior technique, with Joyce’s late rally in the third being insufficient to be earn the decision.

I’m not defending the approach used to score fights in the amateur system, as it isn’t my cup of tea, but it is what it is. If you familiarise yourself with the criteria used to score fights in the amateurs, you might even consider changing your mind about Joyce being robbed of Olympic gold.

Perhaps there are others that frequent this forum that are more familiar with the scoring criteria in the amateurs who can explain things better than I can.

That's a decent argument and I guess I should watch that final again, but whether or not he deserved gold over silver doesn't really affect my point that I have high expectations based on his undoubted amateur quality, that has not yet shown itself in his pro career to this point.

p.s. I rather fancy you may be right with your "missed the bus" comment.
