Don’t try and speak sense! Some people will criticise Joshua no matter what he did.bruthead wrote: ↑22 Feb 2019, 14:55Martin was a calculated risk at the time. Proved to be useless but on paper an unbeaten, 6 foot 5 southpaw with a big knockout percentage and a world champion. If it wasn't for the belt you don't face that kind of opponent in your 16th fight as a heavyweight prospect.
Of course Whyte was a risk, a guy who has gone on to be a top 5 heavyweight, who can punch, they were both inexperienced then and Whyte held an amateur win over Joshua. Lots of fighters would avoid that kind of opponent with only a British title at stake, Fury and Price never met at that stage.
Whyte was absolutely a risk. The comparison to Fury Price is a great one too. Fury didn’t risk that and took a step back to avoid the fight for whatever reason.
Nobody knew what Martin had when Joshua fought him. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I bet nobody else beats him that easy though. Fury wouldn’t stop him, let alone inside a couple of rounds. Wilder would stop him but he takes a while to get going.
It seems Joshua beats people for others in a way. Povetkin would give Wilder and Fury fits, both seemingly don’t have to fight him now though which is weird, all because Joshua bounced him off the canvas. Same goes with Whyte and Parker. Joshua’s leftovers but both would give Wilder and Fury a good argument.
