James DeGale Retires!
Re: James DeGale Retires!
I agree Froch would have beaten him it's just funny that he can't talk about somebody without mentioning himself yet again.

Re: James DeGale Retires!
Froch would have beaten him but the shitebag could have just wished him well but his ego got the better of him again the arsehole.
Re: James DeGale Retires!
Pretty much this.
Degale. - never liked / took to him
Groves - liked him but then went off him during the build up to the Froch fights
Froch - didn’t like him then started to like him after Pascal win, then went off him again after the Groves fights
So, overall I am not keen on any of them as people
Re: James DeGale Retires!
Good decision
Can't say I took to him ever tbh, respect he had skills & was a good fighter at one point of course, but as a person I don't book him

Degale- never liked him but started to have respect for him while he was defending his title abroad.bripez wrote: ↑28 Feb 2019, 20:37Pretty much this.

Groves-always liked him from the start.
Froch-never liked him from the start and despised him towards the end of his career.

Re: James DeGale Retires!
His Ego wasn't big enough to fill Wembley a second time after Groves when DeGale was on red hot form after Gonzalez.
I do love the Frochism's though, I've not heard him mention his wife, "the Model Rachel Cordingley", for a while though.
Recently it just been to "he was Cobra'd" and "80,000 at Wembley". I was quite surprised he didn't give himself credit for the Smith win.

Froch was getting on but I never liked the way Degale took to resting on the ropes, think that was all wrong if you’re fighting someone like Froch, but we'll never know.stujones wrote: ↑01 Mar 2019, 11:04 His Ego wasn't big enough to fill Wembley a second time after Groves when DeGale was on red hot form after Gonzalez.

It's the right time to walk away, almost impossible for a lot of people until t's too late so 10/10 for making the call himself and knowing it's time to go.
Sad to say I was one of the people who was hoping for a Groves vs Degale 2 fight to happen, but seeing how it turned out for both of them through their careers. As a fan of the sport, I'm pretty happy with the great fights they put on.
3 of Degale's fights that impressed for me:
Vs Badou Jack - (draw) amazing fight, lot of heart and showed he can take some monstrous punches from a dangerous challenger and keep fighting back.
Vs Paul Smith - (Won tko 9) Good fight from his early days and a British title fight, he was pretty arrogant at this stage of his career but to put on a top class performance against the much more experienced Smith, it was a good showing for him.
VS Hadillah mouhoumadi - (Won decision) three fights removed from his first loss to Groves and his final European title fight before moving onto the world stage, he really seemed to grow up since the groves fight at this stage and make full use of his boxing ability and instead of talking up a big fight, he just made it a good fight.

Re: James DeGale Retires!
Looking back at this video shows how childish and immature Degale was.

Re: James DeGale Retires!
It's ironic how Degale calls somebody else ugly though, he's not exactly an oil painting is he?
Re: James DeGale Retires!
It was that programme that made me really start rooting for Groves. Prior to that I was just looking forward to the fight and didn't really have any preference for either guy
