Hell, that's about the only fight I'll give him credit for. Pulev receives no credit because he's awful to watch.

Pulev has been one of those heavyweights who seems to be right at the top of most rankings but the championship is just out of reach, Joshua now, W. Klitschko before him. The latter of the two beat Pulev, arguably when he was at a better stage of his career and If the injury hadn't happened before he would have fought and lost to Joshua.

Ortiz on the other hand seems to be the nearly man who is right on the tail of the champions, Granted he lost to Wilder but he still seems to be just a fraction ahead of Pulev to challenge them (Wilder, AJ) but has the stopping power to decide a fight when it matters where as Pulev has the technical ability and the toughness to drag out the bout and win but not stop an opponent at the very top.

I don’t think this would be a good fight.

I also doubt that anyone would attempt to make this contest, since the Bulgarian is already the mandatory challenger to AJ’s IBF title. Kubrat has far bigger fish to fry and Ortiz is probably at the back of the queue in terms of options.

In addition to that, Pulev is a Top Rank fighter, whereas Ortiz is with the PBC and doesn’t have anything to offer Kubrat, in terms of a sizable payday or world title challenger credentials.

There is no reason for Arum and Haymon to consider working with each other to make this fight, since the bout isn’t commercially big enough to warrant sharing the proceeds.

Luis Ortiz is now a member of the “who needs you?” club. There is no reason for any of the big names in the heavyweight division (except for Dillian Whyte) to consider facing him. High risk - Low reward.

Within the next 18 months or so, the Cuban will likely become a stepping stone or a gatekeeper for young up-and-coming prospects hoping to create a name for themselves on the world-scene.

Pulev is definitely poison to the eyes. Watching an entire fight could have a sleeping beauty like affect. Nobody thought Hughie was very good or he was going to beat pulev. Great post!!!;

I like watching boxing even when there are no knockdowns or knockouts. Skill and tactics are very entertaining for a trained eye. Pulev is as good to watch as any other heavyweight. There would not be much of a sport if all we were to watch is the top 3-4 of each weight class or only watched the men who fight clobber or be clobbered.
