Yet more bad news for Joke Calzaghe!!!!
Yusef Mack got well beaten last night on ESPN2... so he's off Calzaghe's radar and allegedly is now looking - yet again - for some - ANYONE - to have poor Joe beat up on on July 8... Warren ripped the piss out of Hobson and Hatton for not having an opponent 9 weeks out and yet here we are SEVEN WEEKS out and Joe's got no opponent... f-ing joke!... FW ripped on Collazo as an opponent for Hitman... but who wants to bet that whoever Joe fights won't be anywhere near the level of Collazo, won't be a world champion and won't even be competitive...????
ALSO... Joe isn't even listed on HBO's website... interesting... could it be that because of this farce with the July 8 opponent HBO won't even be showing the event??!?!?! Where is BoxingChat to inform us just how great Frank W is and how shit Hearn, Hennessey and everyone else is?!?!! LOL!

also... just been on FW's own website and they are STILL selling tickets for the MEN on July 15?!?!?!?!?! there's a link to ticketmaster.co.uk and you can still buy tickets for the date which was supposed to be for Williams v Skelton2.... anyone know the deal here?... there is a rumour that Warren will move the entire July 8 card to MEN if tickets sales don't go well.... and they can't be going well with Joe not even having an opponent yet...

Collazo wanst the world champion, he was merely a belt holder, and ranked as low as 7 by some experts.Paul Powler wrote:Yusef Mack got well beaten last night on ESPN2... so he's off Calzaghe's radar and allegedly allegedly is now looking - yet again - for some - ANYONE - to have poor Joe beat up on on July 8... He gave Hatton all he could handle and then some.
People have made excuses for Hatton saying he isnt big enough. Yet, in the ring, he was the heavier man.
I dont thinkWarren or Calzaghe are too bothered about the delay in naming an opponent. After all whatever happens it will be live on ITV1 with millions watching.
Hatton should go back to 140 and fight castillo, Corrales and Witter too.
Mayweather whilst smaller than Ricky would cut him to ribbons, Margaritio would decapitate him, and, as for fighting Oscar, forget it.
Hatton is the best at 140, its a big mistake keeping him at Welterweight.
There were a lot of guys recently saying that Hatton would have stopped Lloyd Honeyghan at 147..... Please.

Joe would murder Froch... shame on you for suggesting it... I'm not a Froch fan but I don't want to see him hurt for life.... If Hatton had gone from fighting Tszyu to then beating up reigning British champion we'd all be calling him all the names under the sun and rightly so.... Warren couldn't deliever Maussa for Hatton and so Hatton left... Warren has to deliever a big name for Joe coming off Lacy or he totally loses face...
Re: Yet more bad news for Joke Calzaghe!!!!
Yeah, I hope all those guys who said Hatton would have beaten Honeyghan are ashamed of themselves... Lloyd would have koed him in less than 5 rounds...KO Artist wrote:Collazo wanst the world champion, he was merely a belt holder, and ranked as low as 7 by some experts.Paul Powler wrote:Yusef Mack got well beaten last night on ESPN2... so he's off Calzaghe's radar and allegedly allegedly allegedly is now looking - yet again - for some - ANYONE - to have poor Joe beat up on on July 8... Calzaghe and Warren have a huge problem in that there are basically no creidble challengers available for the date. I doubt that Glen Johnson is going to take the fight at such short notice unless they offer him a shitload of cash, and after that the best options available are Manfredo (who he would most likely destroy) and maybe Sam Soliman (who could give him a very tough night.)
There is pretty much no one else he can fight.

Manfredo is a great fight for Joe, and would do well on US PPV. Manfredo is a big name in the US.glahn wrote:Calzaghe and Warren have a huge problem in that there are basically no creidble challengers available for the date. Its a big fight, big payday for Joe, with low risk
Commercially it ticks all the boxes.

Manfredo is definitely his best option now. The likes of Andrade and Soliman would be too high risk/low reward, and as I said before, Johnson wouldn't take the fight at this stage. Manfredo is good box office in the US, is available, and is probably competent enough to hang with Calzaghe into the later rounds and make a decent spectacle of it.

Iron Rick
Hi Rick, we are still working on Joe’s opponent, he is not fighting Peter Manfredo, I hope to make an announcement this week.

I've got no ties to any promoter... unless you count me winning FW.tv compo to get Hatton tickets a couple of years back... just a fan, but I like to think a fan who reads as much about the sport as anyone out there....
no WAY is Calzghe v TBA gonna be on HBO PPV... from what I'm reading I don't even think the July 8 is even happening... why is allegedly's own website still selling tickets to the MEN the week after.... maybe I've been watching my X-Files DVD box sets too much but something rings very untrue here....

Why not this guy, or is he too good?

He has a very impressive record for a prospect - has some decent names on it - Mock, Salem, Wiggins, Thysse, Thobela, Salem, Spearman... And he looks a mean puncher - KO'ing Salem.

Mundine can box, which disqualifies him as opponent. My T Sharp wrote:This was in Frank Warrens mail bag this week:

manfredo's ppl wants $1.5m, which rules him outGraham Brett wrote:Manfredo is a great fight for Joe, and would do well on US PPV. incidentally, who cares if calzaghe is on hbo ppv? he doesn't have to prove shit to hbo, they're not running his career.
seems as if calzaghe's WBO & IBF mandatories don't even want to challenge him
we all knew the july opponent wasn't going to be up to too much, but obviously the tba is taking the piss. however, if there's going to be a major fight in sept/october time, it'll be ok. i mean, wasn't it worth sitting through the ashira fight to get to lacy?

If Joe has a 'gimmie' for his homecoming fight and that 'gimmie' is sandwhiched between Lacy and Beyer (for example) no-one will be able to argue with Joe's 2006 work.... if they do, they work for Hobson.... all I am saying is that we are less than 7 weeks away and Warren hasn't sorted this out.... and Warren ripped the piss out of Hobson for Ricky not having a foe nine weeks from fight time... then Warren ripped the piss for Collazo not being good enough.... but when you compare how Hobson handled Ricky's opponent for May 13 compared to Warren's TBA farce... if Warren could keep his gob shut and not be spiteful about his fellow promoters for once he wouldn't have shown his arse like this...

Bute's handlers see big things in his future. I can't see they'd want to risk his 0 at this stage, against the top s-middle in the world & at 7 weeks notice. Not unless Warren pays silly money.stujones wrote:Why not this guy, or is he too good?
