Ref look like he about to cry
Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Travis Reeves - 8 March 2019
That finishing right hand almost felt like a cheap shot with how quick it was from the referee letting them box. Not sure Mullender knew where he was. Williams well and truly ready for a step up. Easily a European level fighter.
Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Travis Reeves - 8 March 2019
Last punch reminded me of the right hand Don Curry threw to finish off Milton McCrory.
Could Williams pass as another Walsh brother?

Not getting back on the Williams hype train just yet. I wanna see how he fairs when he's in a 50/50.
Those fights with Smith asked a lot of questions that still need answering.

Poor from the ref that....
Not sure I can warm to Williams.

Yeah Dubois, Yarde AND Williams are all good fighters, but none of them have an ounce of charisma or likeability outside of it.

Reeves is landing enough for us to know when Yarde steps up the game he will get found out.

I’ve got a feeling, Kovalev will KTFO Yarde. It will be as if Yarde has just been hyped up and not able to back it. Tbh, these opponents haven’t helped. How he’s ranked #1 with WBO. Because he’s won all their regional belts and defended them numerous times.
Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Travis Reeves - 8 March 2019
Yarde wins by stoppage in the 5th. Seemed early to me.
Edit - Rawling saying it was a perfect stoppage. Maybe I need to see it again.

Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Travis Reeves - 8 March 2019
It was maybe a punch or two early for the bloodthirsty, but Travis was wobbling on unsteady legs while Yarde was set to try and take his head off.
Seems like they're serious about Kovalev !
I don't buy it - FWank has always been so patient with his prospects.

Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Travis Reeves - 8 March 2019
I'll give Reeves credit he showed ambition landed some leather and took a lot of big shots without going down, fair play, Yarde was alright I suppose, looked relaxed, landed some nice shots, mixed it up and landed some sharp left hook counters, he did get tagged a couple of times and it looked like it was starting to get messy just before the finish but he showed good finishing instincts when he finally wobbled Reeves with that right hand and ive no complaints about the stoppage
Please get a effing move on with his career and don't bother rescheduling the Amar fight

Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Travis Reeves - 8 March 2019
I thought it was too early too.
Yarde did wel but he needs rounds. It was a good opponent for him, asked some questions, but not too many!

He's not got the deep am background and 3 more top British/Euro level fights would do him the world of good.
He'll have a decent chance against Kovalev, but what then - Bivol ?! Beterbiev ?!
Needs more seasoning.

Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Travis Reeves - 8 March 2019
Yarde is heavy handed and it was enough to take the sting out of Reeve who at 38 has long seen his best days.
I'm no sure what they plan to do with Yarde but his footwork is poor, he has a poor jab and is left hook heavy. It's no going to be enough if and when he steps up to the top level.

hmm, see whereas id be more like he has a decent chance vs a crude open guy like beterbiev but then what vs kov and bivol. those guys have power and can box too. kov may be fragile but hes just way above anything yardes seenskanksta wrote: ↑08 Mar 2019, 18:40Disagree.handsofstone wrote: ↑08 Mar 2019, 18:37 I'll give Reeves credit he showed ambition landed some leather and took a lot of big shots without going down, fair play, Yarde was alright I suppose, looked relaxed, landed some nice shots, mixed it up and landed some sharp left hook counters, he did get tagged a couple of times and it looked like it was starting to get messy just before the finish but he showed good finishing instincts when he finally wobbled Reeves with that right hand and ive no complaints about the stoppage

Big step up in class for Yarde tonight and he looked very comfortable.
He does lack am experience so he just needs to be kept busy and I'd like to see him move up to domestic title class next.
Perhaps Mendy or Burton.

Heffron was the favourite when he boxed Williams.Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑08 Mar 2019, 17:51 Not getting back on the Williams hype train just yet. I wanna see how he fairs when he's in a 50/50.
Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Travis Reeves - 8 March 2019
i used to think Yarde just toyed with opponents, but now im thinking maybe the guy just can't get out of first gear. He's a limp dick. A slow, plodder with no footwork. A hypejob deliberately being managed to fight only tomato cans flown in for a paycheck.

Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Travis Reeves - 8 March 2019
I agree but seeing as Warren seems to be happy to avoid domestic and European level, I'd rather he just went in with a top 15 LHW now, I cant be arsed with these opponents any moreskanksta wrote: ↑08 Mar 2019, 18:40Disagree.handsofstone wrote: ↑08 Mar 2019, 18:37 I'll give Reeves credit he showed ambition landed some leather and took a lot of big shots without going down, fair play, Yarde was alright I suppose, looked relaxed, landed some nice shots, mixed it up and landed some sharp left hook counters, he did get tagged a couple of times and it looked like it was starting to get messy just before the finish but he showed good finishing instincts when he finally wobbled Reeves with that right hand and ive no complaints about the stoppage

Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Travis Reeves - 8 March 2019
I think Yarde could do with at least 3 more before Kovalev. If I was controlling his career and his #1 ranking wasn't an issue I'd go:
Summer 2019: Isaac Chilemba - Could well be a stinker but Chilemba is as close to guaranteed rounds as you're going to get. Yarde goes 12 for the first time against an awkward opponent. If he stops him its a statement. If not, then neither did Alvarez, Kovalev, Bivol etc.
Late 2019: Jean Pascal - Very tough customer. More chance to look good than against Chilemba. Well past prime but name recognition. Yarde could force a stoppage against a former champ.
Early 2020: Sullivan Barrera - Skilled operator. If you're not world class he will dominate you (Shabranskyy, Smith Jr, Valera, Monaghan). If you are world class he's beatable (Ward, Bivol).
If he didn't look devastating against those 3 and his momentum had slowed, then feed him someone like Seanie Monaghan to knock over in the States before a title shot towards the end of next year.
As it stands though these pointless WBO ranking fights he's been having will probably mean he fights Kovalev before having an genuine tests. Therefore 1 of 2 things happens. Either he beats Kovalev and has a load of shite defences while we're told "remember he's still learning!" or Kovalev batters him.

Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Yarde vs. Travis Reeves - 8 March 2019
big step up? w u t?
and burtons only ever beat miles shinkwin and was knocked out by bugs. i dont know why everyone always talks about him like yarde needs to fight him.
lol ppl thought yardes opponents were bad then tell me what total binmen burtons fighting next since getting kod. its true yarde needs to step up but burton aint it. totally bizarree how overrated he gets.
