I was watching back then but I can't remember two or three boxing matches a week. There used to be a lot of good stuff on Mid Week Sport Special on ITV, and Sportsnight to a slightly lesser extent. Some of the bigger fights were on at the weekend, and the big fights from America were shown on delayed replay the next day. Up until the early 90s big time boxers were household names and the bigger fights used to get huge audiences. Some great names and fights, brilliant time to be a boxing fan.

Oh yeah! I remember doing that. I had to decide which fight I was going to watch live and which one on delay/tape.

Same here. We could follow our Olympic boxers (and other young prospects, especially local) as they moved through the pros back then. You allude to a good point though in that today, we get so much more (and I appreciate) exposure to international/foreign fighters earlier on in their careers.
