Martin is a bum. Won the title on an injury. Once again fighting a old nobody. Maybe Corbin can get lucky.
Re: Charles Martin vs. Gregory Corbin - March 16, 2019
well i mean he just fought kownacki not long ago and it was very close, much closer then washington! hes obviously not great but hes not a total bum. imo he gets too bad of a rap
Re: Charles Martin vs. Gregory Corbin - March 16, 2019
He's completely unproven (and never will be). Never won over a name. AJ wrecked him in two...yes the Kownacki right was close and he even had Kow in trouble when he tired, but Kow is no world beater either.

ya but i mean when you look down the list of guys in the division honestly i dont think that many are far better then him, in reality hes obviously not world class but i think he can compete with all but maybe 15 or so guys in the division. just seems like he gets treated so much as a joke when hes actually not that awful compared to most

I never saw it and am not overly motivated to watch it now. All 3 judges had it a 2 round margin for Kownacki. If their scoring was accurate, Martin isn't that terrible as Kownacki is a legit top 10 guy. No?

i think its a combo of martins not as bad as billed and kownacki is throughly unimpressive himself. but today kownacki is a top 10 ish hw because of how weak things areTony1244 wrote: ↑22 Feb 2019, 14:11Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑22 Feb 2019, 14:09Yehh. Was a very close fight that.

He needs to beat someone in the top 20-30 at the very least to be considered in the discussion. This fight won't prove anything unless he loses, then it proves my very biased point!jamamb wrote: ↑22 Feb 2019, 14:10 ya but i mean when you look down the list of guys in the division honestly i dont think that many are far better then him, in reality hes obviously not world class but i think he can compete with all but maybe 15 or so guys in the division. just seems like he gets treated so much as a joke when hes actually not that awful compared to most

I know RKO just copied and pasted something, but I hate when I read sh*t like "Former World Champion Charles Martin"...that just doesn't feel right. It's technically accurate, but I feel like "Former Titleholder Charles Martin" is as good as should be acknowledged in a case like his, though I know promoters are just hoping that the cache of having someone with credentials will attract people.

Don’t forget this fight guys on FS1, before the FOX PPV.
Re: Charles Martin vs. Gregory Corbin - March 16, 2019
Martin probably stops this guy. Keeps his name in the PBC cycle for a while longer.

If it's part of the overall Spence vs Garcia card then I see no reason why it wouldn't be.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑11 Mar 2019, 16:23I take it this fight will also be taking place at the AT&T Staduin?

Yeh.. I just thought it might be like how Showtime showed Stevenson-Gvozdyk whilst the Wilder-Fury PPV was going on.gilgamesh wrote: ↑11 Mar 2019, 16:47If it's part of the overall Spence vs Garcia card then I see no reason why it wouldn't be.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑11 Mar 2019, 16:23I take it this fight will also be taking place at the AT&T Staduin?

Martin showed some toughness in his loss to Kownacki . Martin can't be that bad. Corbin, on the other hand, is a 38 year old relative novice with only 4 years experience. Martin has his confidence back; Corbin is getting clobbered.

Admittedly, I don’t know very much about Gregory Corbin, until I read that he’s been lined-up to fight Charles Martin, but he seems to be a slow plodding fleshy feather-fisted heavyweight. He's a fighter that needs to lose between 40lbs to 50lbs.
It’s a very harsh conclusion and I hope the American proves me wrong by showing me better form than what he’s shown during his bouts and sparring sessions that are available on YouTube.
The thing is, I’ve never been impressed by Charles Martin either.
So who knows who might win this bout, but my money is on the former world champion, because the alleged unbeaten “prospect” is already 38 years old and is unlikely to improve any further.
I expect Charles Martin to be too young, too experienced, too skilful and far too powerful for Corbin and will likely win by a tedious decision victory.
Part of the reason for my conclusion was witnessing a 45-year-old version of Shannon Briggs pummelling a 36 ½ year old version of Gregory Corbin in sparring, whilst ‘The Cannon’ was preparing for the Fres Oquendo bout.

Agreed. He got destroyed by Joshua but that doesn't automatically make him a bum. He's not elite level but he is in or about the top twenty in the world I'd say.jamamb wrote: ↑22 Feb 2019, 14:10 ya but i mean when you look down the list of guys in the division honestly i dont think that many are far better then him, in reality hes obviously not world class but i think he can compete with all but maybe 15 or so guys in the division. just seems like he gets treated so much as a joke when hes actually not that awful compared to most

Two names on his resume and two losses. Best win against an overblown CW (Glaskov). Best showing a loss against rising contender Kownacki. Won a title due to his opponent having a knee injury while he was losing. He's not very good.candyslim wrote: ↑12 Mar 2019, 04:27Agreed.
