Danny Garcia vs. Adrian Granados - April 20, 2019

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

BS.com has learned that Keith Thurman-Josesito Lopez, Leo Santa Cruz-Miguel Flores and Danny Garcia-Adrian Granados are among the FOX main events that’ll be revealed during a press conference Tuesday in Los Angeles.

Premier Boxing Champions/FOX main events through April are expected to be announced during that event. Al Haymon’s organization and FOX, a broadcast network available in roughly 120 million homes in the United States, announced a new partnership two months ago that will begin December 22 with a show that’ll feature twins Jermall Charlo and Jermell Charlo in respective defenses of their WBC interim middleweight title and WBC super welterweight crown.

The Garcia-Granados fight will take place at some point in April.

Philadelphia’s Garcia (34-2, 20 KOs) lost his last fight to Shawn Porter (29-2-1, 17 KOs). Las Vegas’ Porter won their 12-rounder by unanimous decision to capture the then-vacant WBC welterweight title September 8 at Barclays Center.

Granados (20-6-2, 14 KOs, 1 NC), of Cicero, Illinois, called out Garcia before Garcia lost to Porter to months ago.

It's an OK fight for Garcia, he has taken another L. Don't expect him to be in a tough fight.

Granados gave Porter a tough fight TBH. Bettern than Brandon Rios though.

Hopefully Garcia fights twice next year.

I think stylistically this is a tough one for Garcia. Granados will be putting immense pressure on him. The kid was pressuring Porter, ffs.

The undercard and site for the welterweight fight between former two-division titlist Danny Garcia and Adrian Granados on April 20 was squared away on Thursday.

The Premier Boxing Champions card (Fox/Fox Deportes, 8 p.m. ET) will take place at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, and will include a 10-round heavyweight co-feature between Andy Ruiz, who is newly signed to PBC, and Alexander Dimitrenko, and a vacant interim junior featherweight title bout between Brandon Figueroa and Yonfrez Parejo in the opening bout.

Ruiz (31-1, 20 KOs), 29, fighting out of Imperial, California, suffered his lone defeat by majority decision in New Zealand to Joseph Parker for a vacant world title in December 2016. He has only fought twice since before being released by longtime promoter Top Rank and signing with PBC.

The 6-foot-2 Ruiz will take on the 6-7 Dimitrenko (41-4, 26 KOs), 36, a Russia native fighting out of Germany, who has vast experience. Dimitrenko suffered a third-round knockout loss to Parker in 2016 and is coming off a ninth-round knockout loss to Bryant Jennings in August.

“I’ve seen Granados fight a few times,” Garcia mentioned of his upcoming opponent, as the two collide atop the April 20 edition of PBC on Fox at Dignity Sports Health Park in Carson, Calif. “And by the way, thank you for fighting that one dude who called me a cherry picker.”

The “dude” in reference is Amir Imam, who for much of 2015 served as the mandatory challenger to the 140-pound title Garcia held. The fight never came about, with Garcia instead opting to test the welterweight waters before abandoning the division altogether.

“You knocked him out, so thank you for that,” Garcia (34-2, 20KOs) extended to Granados, though the extent of his complimentary mood during Tuesday’s press conference at The Palm in Los Angeles. “Other than that, though, your ass is grass.”

“It’s all good,” Garcia calmly replied. “It’s a big fight, I expect him to be confident. His ass is grass, though, and I’m the lawnmower, baby.”

The remarks drew a hearty rise out of the crowd, but—for Garcia—not the final say.

“As far as you cutting the grass, ain’t nobody cut grass better than Mexicans,” Granados shot back, offering his own figurative pre-fight guarantee.

This won't be much of a contest. I expect Garcia will win a clear decision, but Granados will be game throughout. Just outclassed.

Granados is much better than Rios. MUCH better. Rios is a walking punching bag. Garcia will win a tough decision.

Granados is a tough out.

Garcia is better but not overwhelmingly. He better start moving his hands more than he did in his losses to Thurman and Porter if he wants to stay relevant at welterweight.

His punch output those nights were practically Broner-esque.

Granados is pretty tough, but he's not an especially skilled fighter. Garcia will win a clear decision.

Lest we forget, awkward or unorthodox pressure has given Garcia fits already. Namely Herrera, who clearly beat him. Even shot to shit perennial heavy bag Rios jumped up in weight and gave him trouble with simple pressure. Skills aren't what has given DSG the most trouble, Thurman nor Porter showed more skill than Danny they were both very close fights. Thurman's aggression/pressure early and Porter's second half surge was the difference. Granados will likely prove to be a tough night for Swift. Unfortunately Granados is gonna need a ko to win. I hope he gets it.

Garcia has been very disappointing and is not living up to his potential. Output and no jab are a problem. In my opinion If he had a jab he would have beat porter clearly as Garcia landed the better quality but it was few and far between. He was in range (according to me watching on a tv) and seemingly waited instead of making some action with a jab.

You’d hope he makes the adjustments as he has some seriously nice and hurtful hooks.

Granados will upset boxing genius Garcia (by his dad version-)) by points. Or a draw. Granados' workrate and durability will be be a criptonit for counterpuncher-on-duty style fighter as Garcia is

Garcia better throw punches so he doesn't screw up a potential July date with Pacquiao.

Granados is a spoiler type and Garcia better be prepared to do some work and not view it as a gym session.
