Oscar Rivas vs Tyson Fury's next?
Oscar Rivas vs Tyson Fury's next?
Michael Benson/Sport Talk:
Tyson Fury will return to the ring with Oscar Rivas said to be his opponent.
Rivas is barely 6' tall. On paper, it seems an easy win for Fury whose size and reach advantage is enormous. The article goes on to say that a Wilder rematch would potentially be after that in late 2019. Doesn't excite me.

lol ppl still banging on about the rematch, fury and wilder arent glued together and i dont think bobby wants it.
rivas is short but credible enough coming off a stoppage of jennings

Re: Oscar Rivas vs Tyson Fury's next?
Easy work for the Gypsy King. Jennings felt pretty comfortable against Rivas, until he got nailed. Fury is levels above Jennings. Furthermore Fury's chin can take anything. Rivas' chanes for victory are barely seen even in theory.

Easy points win for Fury - good start on ESPN!
Re: Oscar Rivas vs Tyson Fury's next?
jennings was losing at the time of the stoppage

Re: Oscar Rivas vs Tyson Fury's next?
i had rivas up and rivas was 'officially' up. jennings didnt look comfy at all to me and then he got knocked out
Re: Oscar Rivas vs Tyson Fury's next?
Rivas was up, and Fury is not Jennings. It'll be a shutout. The Jennings fight really doesn't make for a decent indicator. I'm actually surprised that Rivas wouldn't want a winnable fight before cashing in vs Fury, TBH.
Re: Oscar Rivas vs Tyson Fury's next?
the jennings win is one of the better recent wins in the division, of course rivas is unlikely to beat fury, but who is
Re: Oscar Rivas vs Tyson Fury's next?
The size difference will just be to much. There's only been a few heavyweights who've been capable of overcoming such a huge size difference at such a high level.
Although he's ranked fairly highly and is a fairly good boxer, I think he's been picked because of his height. I think he's the shortest guy in the Boxrec top 50. Looks good on paper to beat number 11 in the world but Fury is going to win this before skill difference can even come into play.
The only upside is that he's one of the best guys who's not already booked up or had something in the works already.

Re: Oscar Rivas vs Tyson Fury's next?
Rivas is just too small
Re: Oscar Rivas vs Tyson Fury's next?
Agreed. I was going to post Pulev.tiny_acres wrote: ↑13 Mar 2019, 13:14Pulev or Parker both have promotional ties to Arum. Either would be a vast improvement over Rivas.
Who would you realistically want to see him fight
Re: Oscar Rivas vs Tyson Fury's next?
i think rivas is even money with parker and pulev
Re: Oscar Rivas vs Tyson Fury's next?
really, a guy youve trashed so much, you must think rivy is real bad then !oogiebe wrote: ↑13 Mar 2019, 13:18Agreed. I was going to post Pulev.tiny_acres wrote: ↑13 Mar 2019, 13:14Pulev or Parker both have promotional ties to Arum. Either would be a vast improvement over Rivas.

Size and length come into this one, as well as style. Rivas would be kept at the end of Fury's jabs all night. Pulev would have a better chance to make it a fight.jamamb wrote: ↑13 Mar 2019, 13:20really, a guy youve trashed so much, you must think rivy is real bad then !oogiebe wrote: ↑13 Mar 2019, 13:18Agreed. Re: Oscar Rivas vs Tyson Fury's next?
ESPN/TR is just interested in giving Fury some American exposure in his first fight.
Their probably not very concerned about it being competitive.
If anything, they would probably want Fury to appear dominating. Maybe even score a KO/TKO.
Fury has been getting slammed for being unexciting. A quick fix is to bring in a smallish heavyweight that Fury can pummel.

Proper shite fight, so easy to predict.
Breazeale and Miller would both spank Rivas and they are two uninspiring opponents for Wilder and Fury tbh!
Fury won’t take a tiny risk until it’s for big stakes, it’s how he’s always gone about it.

Re: Oscar Rivas vs Tyson Fury's next?
why not? parker for example barely beat ruiz or hughie. struggled seriously with takam. rivas actually has a better win then anything parkers done, i have no idea why parkers rated so highly

I agree with a few things. Parker is over rated.jamamb wrote: ↑13 Mar 2019, 13:57why not? parker for example barely beat ruiz or hughie. rivas actually has a better win then anything parkers done, i have no idea why parkers rated so highly
But he dominated Hughie. Thinking otherwise is crazy to me.
And if pick Ruiz over Rivas.
Re: Oscar Rivas vs Tyson Fury's next?
parker could barely land a clean shot on fury. if he won its because hughies so negative. parker showed a real lack of offensive imagination.
fat boi i wouldnt pick over rivas and hes done nothing outside the parker fight.
parker should not be treated as levels above any half decent top 15 contender . hes never had a convinging win over anyone decent

Re: Oscar Rivas vs Tyson Fury's next?
parker actually has a shorter reach then rivas too btw
