I say Liston by a fairly wide margin. I gave my reason on another thread and don't feel like writing a book right now.
Neither do I. I guess Liston was probably a more complete fighter, still he never proved anything vs. a big fighter. George's career was without a shadow of a doubt much richer than Liston's.

George would be a lot more fun as a commentator

I am going to respectfully disagree with Flex, I thing Sonny would
have hit the canvas on this one because George is bigger, stronger
and Sonny could not get out of his way.

I am going to disrespectfully disagree with Flex. Just kidding. I sure would like to see this one. I also think Foreman had too many physical advantages for Sonny to overcome.

George was a little taller, but I can't think of any other physical advantages Foreman would have. Liston on points or by late-round stoppage.

Foreman is superior to Liston, I would rate Foreman in my top 5 heavy's of all time.

I read in a Sports Illustrated in the early 70s that a doctor who had been examining fighters since the 1930s say that George Foreman was the strongest physical specimen he had ever examined. So that would give Foreman the strength advantage that he always used to push or shove any opponent into his punching range. George also had a reach advantage if you take into account his stride across the ring. I think he may have been a little faster too. Foreman KO4!

Sorry Tomato, I don't see George being quicker than Liston and Sonny is the one with the reach advantage.
I'd say both are about equal in power and chin, but Liston is the much better boxer.

I know Sonny had the reach advantage as the way it is measured. The point I was making is taking his stride into account. You know, from where he starts his punch to where he lands. I also think Liston was the better boxer but I dont see a boxing match developing here. We are'nt going to settle here who would win but as I like to say, your opinion is just as good as mine and vice-versa. :D

I'd have to say Foreman, at least he could hit Ali.
