Errol Spence Jr. vs. Mikey Garcia - 16 March 2019
Re: Errol Spence Jr. vs. Mikey Garcia - 16 March 2019
Theres a reason you have divisions , and thats because putting it simply , A good big en will almost always beat a good little en . Mickeys best rnd was the first , and he did'nt throw a punch . The rest of the rnds were just Spence finding his rythem , and beating him up ,
With that though , i did enjoy the fight , i watched it with my son , and pointed out Spences excellent use of the right hand, if you watch close it was brilliant the way he noticed very quickly Mickys use of the left forearm to block , Spence would dummy the jab and hold it there just long enough to keep Garcias left from coming back and pop in the left hand , he would alter the jab from inside to outside , coming down , and really mix it up .knowing that Mickey always used the same block .It was lke fencing tactical and concise , sort of boxing i like to watch , .....
But Spence was toooo big , but by the same rule it was mainly boxing skills that made it easy for himself , his use of that right hand was tex book stuff for a southpaw to learn , how to take a orthodox guys lead hand away from him .
Like i said Spence was too big for Mickey but also to smart .

Good question , and i think he would off .. size aside Garcia just could'nt get in a rythem , but has another poster said , its not good that its guys going up 2 weights have to fight the best when theres plenty around there own size .

The fights I want to see are Loma vs Garcia and Loma vs Davis at up at welter Spence vs Crawford.
Sadly don’t think we’ll get them anytime soon. Looks like it will be Spence vs Porter next up. I think Spence is a level about Porter.

Be good to see Loma tested against Garcia , but i think Loma will win , i suspect Loma will be too quick for him , good fight though , I do agree with another poster who said , taking the SWpence fight was a good duck off Loma , after all , a big payday against Spence leaves it ripe for another against Loma .
Like to see Loma - Garcia , but i don't think we will , they know now he's not unbeatable

Credit to Garcia for having the gumption to take on Spence, when a few others have swerved him, but like you say, it was a bad fight to take.dr_devious wrote: ↑17 Mar 2019, 17:12 Bad bad fight for Garcia to take. He was too brave for his own good and last night could well be detrimental to the rest of his career
Garcia gambled on his own greatness and came up short.
He's still a great fighter and there's no shame in losing to a future ATG who is bigger than you, but Garcia has to think carefully about his next move.
No more forays into 147 for him; too many killers lurking there.
He needs to cement a legacy at 135 and maybe have a crack at 140, but that's it IMHO.

Garcia's stock doesn't go down he took some huge shots - but whats next now doubt he wants to fight Luke Campbell
Re: Errol Spence Jr. vs. Mikey Garcia - 16 March 2019
Garcia took a chance & a gamble, which a lot of fighters don't seem to have the a**ehole for today

While it goes without saying that Garcia deserves massive props for stepping up to the plate when it looked like there was no realistic top opponents willing to step in with Spence I'm still massively disappointed in his effort, he never really took any real chances, he stood up to some big shots he couldn't get out of the way of but offensively he was pretty abysmal it got to be said, its probably the first time I can really criticise Garcia in any of his fights so far but I was far from impressed with his showing, Brook put in a much better effort against Golovkin

I don't really feel like Garcia deserves any plaudits for taking the gamble against Spence.
He could have taken a gamble against Lomachenko, Prograis, Taylor, Davis...and we'd have had a proper fight.
I recorded the fight and after 5 rounds I watched it on fast-forward. Other than the Brook fight I could have watched all of Spence's choreographed and predictable career on fast-forward...Crawford's too. These are two super talented fighters. their fights are sh1t.

Harsh but true. The proliferation of belts mean contenders are champions and they feast on fringe contenders while retaining their championship status.Ezzard wrote: ↑19 Mar 2019, 04:58 I don't really feel like Garcia deserves any plaudits for taking the gamble against Spence.

Thurman
Spence Jr
Danny Garcia
Crawford
Porter
The top boys in the division but we won’t see Crawford fighting any of them anytime soon because the rest are all with Big Al who it would appear likes to keep his fights in house.

As good as he is I don't have Garcia in that group. Porter has been underrated and i think he edged Thurman...but I feel like his all action style has seen him burn out physically...I thought there were signs in his last fight that he's just about over the brow of the hill...but hope I'm wrong.black panther wrote: ↑19 Mar 2019, 05:30Harsh but true. ^ black panther is talking pure facts - Crawford is in the unfortunate situation of moving up to a division where Al has a monopoly !black panther wrote: ↑19 Mar 2019, 05:30Harsh but true.
