Joe Joyce - EBU

Post by MasterG »

The EBU have named Joyce as the next ordered challenger to face Agit Kabayel for the European Heavyweight title.

http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/575332

Kabayel unbeaten in 19 fights with 13 KO's.

If this comes off (Agit may vacate if any sense) should be very interesting for Joyce

Joyce should be able to wear down Kabayel and stop him. That's a lot coming from me as a Joyce detractor. Agit is one dimensional but without the crazy power that Joyce appears to have. Hughie Fury ducked Joyce for good reason. Kabayel won't be as lucky.

I slightly lean to a Kabayel win ove Joyce.
He won't try and go to war with Joyce and has a big speed advantage.

Joe being slow hasn't helped anyone he's faced so far. Kabayel isn't exactly fast and I'm doubting he has enough power to keep Mummy Joyce from wearing him down.

Joyce hasn't come close to fighting someone like Kayabel. Agit is a legitimate contender.

I realize that Tiny, I'm just referencing the speed part. Both would be facing their best opponent, but Joyce making the bigger leap. I don't think that'll matter though, as I don't see Kabayel being able to take down Joyce.

This is a great fight for Joyce imo. Kabayel is young, undefeated and would come to win. I wouldn't rule out seeing him crack the top 10 at some stage. Despite that, he doesn't seem to be the most dangerous heavyweight out there in terms of power. He could pose some stylistic problems for Joyce (he moved and boxed well enough to frustrate an admittedly lacklustre Chisora without ever hurting him) but he's one that you'd think Joyce could wear down while both the fans and Joyce himself get to learn a lot about where he's at.

Tough fight for Joyce he could get outsped & outboxed. But one thing is could Kayabel keep him honest? A mummy is a good description of Joyce. You can laugh at the horrific shape Stiverne was in but he knows how to get the weight behind his punches. He landed some flush right hands on Joyce and Joyce just kept coming.

I’d like to see this fight. It’s not like they can hang around with Joyce and he’s not going to suddenly become drastically better than he is now. They are incremental improvements he can and is making but ultimately he is what he is: a big, slow tough bugger that doesn’t stop throwing hurtful, heavy handed arm punches at you and won’t leave you alone until either you or him are down.

I think it will be a good watch.
Better than Stiverne anyway.
This is about the maximum level (EBU) that I see Joyce at. Even though I would expect Huggie to beat him at British.
No matter my opinion of Brown Lurch, he is good to watch, because I can still follow the 'action' with a skin full.

Kabayel would give Joyce his toughest test to date, but I think Joyce would break him down, and stop him later in the fight. This would be the first real gauge of where he's at though. Kabayel is no world beater, but no joke either. Joyce will have to be at least somewhat legit given all the hype he's received to get the W here.

Another step up for Joyce but I think he has the tools to win this one.
Actually I thought the Stiverne fight would have been a joke but it gave Joyce rounds and taught him a few things. The first time he had a fella chucking a bit back.

Kabayel has been granted a voluntary defence before taking on Joyce, so chances are he’ll do that then relinquish the EBU title.

Joyce is being lined up for another fight in the US , with Adam Kownack being a possibility

Hmmm...Kownacki is exactly the wrong type of fighter for Joyce. Swarming style will expose Joyce's poor defense and Kow takes a good punch.

Would be a good fight certainly.
If Joyce just 'mummified' Kownacki like he's done to everyone else, would you become a believer ?
