I was thinking Chris Byrd vs Davarryl Williamson personally. GOD what a sh*t fest that was. Maybe they counted all the times they touched each other's gloves as punches landed or some sh*t

Re: Boxing trivia/Q&A
yes you are right, I cant remember which one but either Tyson or Smith only landed 47 punches
Re: Boxing trivia/Q&A
I actually thought this was going to be the answer too until I looked on punch stats and that fight isnt in the top 5.

Anybody got a better answer to this ^gilgamesh wrote: ↑18 Mar 2019, 13:46Gotta be Jack Britton and Ted "Kid" Lewis.
They fought each other 19 times, they effectively had a monopoly on the Welterweight title for a few years there where the Welterweight Champion was consistently either Britton or Lewis depending on who'd won their last scrap
If not them then probably some of the early late 19th century or turn of the century Black fighters as they were often matched against each other a ridiculous amount of times.
Hell come to think of it I believe Sam Langford and Harry Wills might have fought over 20 times...either that or right around the same amount of times Lewis and Britton fought I think. I know they fought a lot, but I'm not 100% sure, and I don't feel like doing a count again like I just did with Britton and Lewis![]()

According to Wikipedia Langford fought Jeanette 14 times, McVea 15 times and Wills 17 times. Used the Find... tool on Langford's boxrec page and only counted 17 "Wills" there myself. Other people of the internet seem to think they fought 20+ times, which I suppose is still very possible.gilgamesh wrote: ↑18 Mar 2019, 20:24Anybody got a better answer to this ^gilgamesh wrote: ↑18 Mar 2019, 13:46Gotta be Jack Britton and Ted "Kid" Lewis.

Can't think of anyone else. Holman Williams and Cocoa Kid fought a bunch of times (14 was it?) but nowhere near 19. Wondered if Len Wickwar might've had a rival but it doesn't look like it.
