Warren in NOTW

Post by vargas »

Some questions from Frank about Hatton's fight in his column this week, which I've done my best to answer.

Why was the championship status of the fight not confirmed until very late on?
Because you tried to get an injunction with M'Baye, and Urkal was wanting step aside money.

Why was the fight held in Boston when the Red Sox were playing the same day?
????

Why did Hatton take the fight, with everything to lose and nothing to gain?
He did gain the WBA title, which will probably come in handy during negotations with Baldomir/Gatti or Mayweather.

Why has Ricky only fight twice in the last 12 months?
Because thanks to you Frank, he's had a few things on his mind such as court cases.

The twice in 12 months thing is just something that seems to happen when you reach the top level. It's not like Cazaghe is banging out 5 fights a year now is it?

Something I was going to bring up on a seperate thread. It seems to be a very British thing though... It does seem like our British world champions become very lazy when they win the title.

Hatton, Calzaghe (mainly through injuries), Paul Ingle (wasn't it contracted that we was given at least 12 weeks notice of an opponent) and a fair few others.

Why do they need so long to come down to the weight and prepare for a fight - Hatton will struggle to make a lasting all time great legacy because of he seems to need practically 3-4 months to get down to fighing weight.

Thats a huge difference between our and America's superstars.

Everyone top fighter is doing at most 2 fights a year and I think its all down to weight draining

PBF - twice this year (maybe because he doesn't want to damage his hands?)
All these top fighters about 2 times a year at best - Byrd, Ruiz, Wlad, Taylor, Barrera, Morales, Corrales, Castillo, Zoo, Tarver, Winky Wright....who does fight 4 or more times a year anymore?

Lacy was a breath of fresh air as he was fighting 5times a year like a guy should, pity he didnt move his head, throw combos and work the body.

The "germans" seems to be fighting 3-4 times a year, I dont see why other champs cant do the same.

None of those were his biggest problem.

That award goes to lack of competent footwork.

I agree, Arthur Abraham is probably the most active champ out there...and I don't think it is because everybody loves his ring entrance music :TU:

Silkov is spot on. The question here is why does Warren constantly seek publicity from someone who dropped him like a bad habit?
I really hope he is happily married cos the mind boggles as to how he would react if a woman dumped him. He'd problably be like the boring bastard you get in the pub that keeps on whining about his woman after she has remarried and had another five kids lmao.

Sorry to harp on with two posts on the same thread, but to add to vargas's point, the worst part of it is that scummy rag won't have anyone who works there telling the mushrooms that read it that Warren is responsible for the aggro in the build up to the fight with all his litigation.

WHY does Fwank keep making comments in his NOTW post, WHY did he tie up the MEN so Hatton cant fight there, WHY did he sign the mandatory challenger, WHY does he always try to be little every top boxer who leaves his stable,WHY has Hatton won two genuine world titles in two fights since leaving him, I am sure someone will know all the answers, i am sure if people were writing things about him he'd have his breif on the case, and by the way before he signed Khan he said he had done a deal with the Amatures to show pro AM boxing has all that been forgoton now he's landed the big one???

Warren continually used his column to try to belittle Lennox, who refused to do business with him. Now, depending on what you read Lennox is said to have earned over 100 million. If anyone would like to inform me of any two S.N fighter that have earned 100 mill between them, i will totally accept that Lennox was misguided and good old Frankie was right all along.

He's got a tough one coming up with Miranda, but I would be surprised if there was a pull out there.

I never said he did.

The question was to name two SN fighters who earned 100mil between them.

I named one who earned over 300mil.

Hardly an SN fighter, 2 glorified exhibition matches at the end of his career!

Yes, but if we are to split hairs, Tyson was never a 'sports network fighter' he had a two fight deal with Warren, not the same thing.

It is without doubt that there are no two fighters who were long term part of SN who made 100 million between them.

Tyson was contracted to Sports Network for those two fights.

OK, as it was only two fights how much did he get paid for those glorified exhibitions?

I think in the region of 8-10 million wasn't it. Don't really remember. Certainly not 100 million for fighting Savarese and Francis, even Tyson ain't THAT big a draw.
