What if Jeff Chandler vs Richie Sandoval II?
What if Jeff Chandler vs Richie Sandoval II?
Chandler lost his WBA bantamweight title and his last fight against Sandoval and due to his eye injury he retired instead of planning a rematch with Sandoval in order to regain his title. What would happen if Chandler's eye was fine and fought Sandoval in their rematch? Would Chandler regain his WBA bantamweight title?

I'm still waiting for him and Lupe Pintor to square off
Re: What if Jeff Chandler vs Richie Sandoval II?
Jeff was a damned good fighter, so was Richie, but Chandler lost something those last couple of years. Chandler would lose a close decision if there was a rematch.
Re: What if Jeff Chandler vs Richie Sandoval II?
That's very interesting to hear if Jeff lost his skills or not after his reign as bantamweight champion. I wonder how he would match up with Carlos Zarate and Lupe Pintor had he fought each of them without politics in their way.
Re: What if Jeff Chandler vs Richie Sandoval II?
Personally, I feel Jeff would've beaten both in close, tough fights. Zarate would be a tougher matchup, but Jeff will make Carlos feel it late in the fight.

Jeff Chandler was a terrific bantanweight champion. The best bantanweight of the 80s decade. A true technician. By the time he fought Richie Sandoval, he was shopworn. He had a lot of tough fights in his 4-year title reign. Sandoval wins again. Maybe by knockout. Plus also the cocaine drug use took it's toll on Joltin' Jeff.

Interesting answers, but would the prime version of 1980 to 1983 of Jeff Chandler beat Richie Sandoval of 1984?
Re: What if Jeff Chandler vs Richie Sandoval II?
This is a very good thread. A rematch between Chandler and Sandoval isn't a fight I ever thought about before. I believe Sandoval would have stopped him quicker in a return match. I'd have loved a Chandler-Albert Davila fight.
