Whyte Hopes To Become next WBC Mandatory
Whyte Hopes To Become next WBC Mandatory
Boxing Scene:
After years of pushing, Dillian Whyte is hoping to become the mandatory challenger to the WBC heavyweight title.
The current champion, Deontay Wilder, will defend the title on May 18th against Dominic Breazeale at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Despite Whyte being ranked as number 1 by the sanctioning body, they made Breazeale the mandatory challenger to the belt.
Hearn is looking to have Whyte installed as the next mandatory for Wilder's WBC title. More delays for a unification bout. Why would Hearn push for this if he wants AJ/Wilder? I'm really sick of all the bvllshvt from these promotional companies. Seems to me that none of the three top HW's want to fight one another.

Re: Whyte Hopes To Become next WBC Mandatory
So Whyte is willing to wait a minimum of 12 months after the May 18th mandatory of Wilders?
I still think he will be having his rematch with Joshua before that.
I mean who else is Joshua going to fight after Miller? Fury and Wilder are on rival networks.

The whole thing has gotten on my nerves. We really don't know who to believe and it doesn't matter so long as the big three don't get it on with one another I blame each of them equally. As I've said before, I can't wait for Mak; Ajagba; Hrgovic; Joyce (maybe); Dubois and a host of others to start pressuring the top 10, and hopefully unseating the same old tired names. No one in the top ten is hungry enough anymore it seems. UGH!tiny_acres wrote: ↑20 Mar 2019, 17:36 So Whyte is willing to wait a minimum of 12 months after the May 18th mandatory of Wilders?

Re: Whyte Hopes To Become next WBC Mandatory
Well Joshua still has to satisfy his IBF mandatory, which isn't far away now. Although that would only account for one fight over the next 12 months. I'm sure they'd find some other person credible [enough] to hold off the Whyte re-match.tiny_acres wrote: ↑20 Mar 2019, 17:36 So Whyte is willing to wait a minimum of 12 months after the May 18th mandatory of Wilders?

The goal is to make Joshua unified champion. He can't do that if he can't get Wilder in the ring. So what's plan B? Get one of his stable who is ranked number 1 in the WBC to take the belt off him, and then the unification is a straight forward match up.
I guess they're just trying to remove Wilder from the equation. He's no good for the sport if he carries on down this road.

Yeah and then those up and coming's just end up not only taking the top ranking spots, but the same old conundrum of not fighting one another for commercial gains. It's a vicious cycle. It wasn't too long ago that we were all lauding Joshua and Fury as the guys who were going to free the sport from the shackles.oogiebe wrote: ↑20 Mar 2019, 17:41The whole thing has gotten on my nerves. Yeah and we all know how that is working out. Frustrating isn't the proper term.Rob3_142 wrote: ↑20 Mar 2019, 18:39Yeah and then those up and coming's just end up not only taking the top ranking spots, but the same old conundrum of not fighting one another for commercial gains. Re: Whyte Hopes To Become next WBC Mandatory
I thought he'd already become the #1 contender on like 2 occasions. How are you the #1 contender and not the mandatory?

He refused to face Ortiz for the mandatory position on 2 occasions.
He has never faced a final elimination. Breazeale did. No matter how much of a joke it was
Re: Whyte Hopes To Become next WBC Mandatory
Yes, however; he was named mandatory and after which the WBC ordered the eliminator. I bit klunky, yes?tiny_acres wrote: ↑20 Mar 2019, 18:59He refused to face Ortiz for the mandatory position on 2 occasions.

Re: Whyte Hopes To Become next WBC Mandatory
brezeales eliminator was a joke
whyte was ranked like #1 or #2 or #3 at the time, and the wbc ordered the breazeale vs molina eliminator between like #6 dom and #12 molina

But he was never named mandatory. I know it makes no sense.
But the WBC in their infinite wisdom have the authority to make others mandatory. Even though others are rated ahead of them.
Yes it is stupid. No it doesn't make sense.
But this is boxing not much makes sense

And to think that the WBC isn't the worst of the lot!tiny_acres wrote: ↑20 Mar 2019, 19:07He was rated number one yes.Rob3_142 wrote: ↑20 Mar 2019, 19:04I thought he was already #1 when he was ordered to fight Ortiz?tiny_acres wrote: ↑20 Mar 2019, 18:59He refused to face Ortiz for the mandatory position on 2 occasions.

It is so sad. I still rate the WBA as the worst.
