My Source at Top Rank Told Me...
If he gets passed his opponent 3/23/19 this Saturday.... It will be most likely.... Kubrat Pulev facing Tyson Fury in Las Vegas
where Hughie came up short, Tyson will prevail

ugly...
at least rivas had a bit of power
i mean, pulev would still be a good win mind for pretty much anyone in the division, dont get me wrong its not bad in that respect, but this would be a horrific style match for the eyes

Re: My Source at Top Rank Told Me...
Its not my pick for a Fury fight, but....
It does make sense on a few levels:
#1- Pulev is a mandatory (of sorts) for Anthony Joshua and Fury is already #1 in the IBF so if he beats Pulev it'll only force the issue on Eddie Hearn
#2- Pulev already beat Hughie who is similar in size and speed and elusiveness, so Pulev will have a decent shot at cracking the Fury code because hes got experience against that style
#3- People love the "revenge" angle. It worked great for the Klitschko brothers. Besides, in a way, it'd be yet another validating point for Tyson to make since his uncle Peter has been radio silent on his nephews comeback without him.
#4- While it'll be an ugly fight, Pulev at 26-1 is a better choice far and away than Bryant Jennings and Andy Ruiz and other opponents--- Fury says he only wants to fight the best available, and Pulev is certainly a top 10-15 heavyweight.
#5- Activity is what Fury needs and a guy like Pulev will give Fury those rounds he needs to keep sharp.
And my source told me ORIGINALLY they tried to get Luis Ortiz but apparently team King Kong didn't want any of The Gypsy King.

Ortiz/Fury would be a good one. Too bad.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑19 Mar 2019, 18:25 Its not my pick for a Fury fight, but....

I thought Pulev was waiting for his mandatory to be called so he can cash out.
Can he cash out against Fury?

I thought the same thing, and frankly still do. I don't see this as advantageous to Pulev.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑19 Mar 2019, 19:11 I thought Pulev was waiting for his mandatory to be called so he can cash out.

Re: My Source at Top Rank Told Me...
If Fury is getting tens of millions for the fight deals at ESPN, I can only imagine that Pulev would be getting 10%-20% of that. Let's say Fury makes $10 million per fight, that's $1-2 million for Pulev. He'd get a pretty good payday and not get too beat up in the process--- unlike a Wilder or Joshua fight where he'd get knocked out badly. Besides in the minds of many Fury is THE heavyweight champion--- so this would be a more meaningful fight for Pulev than the others would be.oogiebe wrote: ↑19 Mar 2019, 19:12I thought the same thing, and frankly still do. I don't think too many folks look at Fury as lineal champ, or really care. AJ and Wilder are the belt holders and that's that.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑19 Mar 2019, 19:39If Fury is getting tens of millions for the fight deals at ESPN, I can only imagine that Pulev would be getting 10%-20% of that. Re: My Source at Top Rank Told Me...
Yeah and if he wins there’ll be a big money rematch or AJ.
Pulev has to take that with his age/profile/time left at the top.
The forum has nailed this - decent fight, but one that we don’t wanna watch.
I suppose the hope is - when expectations are so low - the fight often turn out to be ok.

Re: My Source at Top Rank Told Me...
The problem is the real fights everyone wants to see are being blocked by the fighters themselves & their promoters.
This is part of reason why I dislike boxing in so many ways and think it's better off replicating what the UFC has done--- but that'll never happen unless the feds get involved.
In a perfect world the #1 guy should fight the #2 or #3 guy, not people at random or some bogus contender whose ranking is suspect. But ugly fight or not, Pulev is about as solid as it'll get because Ortiz or Whyte, etc refuse to play ball.

Do has i do , don't buy them , without people buying the colosol amounts of money will not be there , they will sooner or later have to step up and fight each other if no one buys the merry go round fights

Re: My Source at Top Rank Told Me...
In this day and age there's almost no point in buying anything because there's always streams somewhere, etc--- so I don't know how theres the multi million dollar purses in the sport unless it's all in the ticket sales these days.

I don't see the advantage in Fury being IBF mandatory. He'd be entitled to what, 20% or so?

Re: My Source at Top Rank Told Me...
Fury’s biggest aim should be the WBC belt. Being mandatory has him in a weaker position by far.
What’ll happen is he’ll simply give up his mandatory position.
If Joshua grabs the WBC belt anytime soon, everyone else is on the outside looking in.
As for Pulev? I would be delighted if he was Fury’s next opponent. Much better than Rivas or Jennings, and a genuine top ten heavyweight

Re: My Source at Top Rank Told Me...
Pulev is better than Miller, Breazdale and Whyte.
Realistically only Fury, AJ and Wilder would beat him and he would have a good chance against Wilder.

Re: My Source at Top Rank Told Me...
Breaeale? Yeah Pulev can beat him. Whyte? Probably Pulev can beat him. Miller? Might be all wrong for Pulev. I'd even give Ortiz a shot.

Re: My Source at Top Rank Told Me...
Actually, Fury looks like he's facing Bryant Jennings of all fighters. Horrible.

Disappointing if so, if Fury wants to claim to be champ he has to fight the top guys.oogiebe wrote: ↑21 Mar 2019, 16:16Actually, Fury looks like he's facing Bryant Jennings of all fighters. Horrible.![]()

Re: My Source at Top Rank Told Me...
Pulev is as good an opponent as Fury could find considering the big two and Povetkin aren’t available. Usyk too of course but time will tell
I’m well pleased if it’s Pulev

It's Jennings. Not Pulev.lillywhite14 wrote: ↑21 Mar 2019, 16:18Pulev is as good an opponent as Fury could find considering the big two and Povetkin aren’t available. Usyk too of course but time will tell
