I'm not surprised at this matchup, but disappointed with all the talk of Usyk wanting to 'dive right in' to the HW scene. He's diving into the kiddie pool here.

Usyk UD presumably. A stoppage would be extremely impressive, assuming the Chisora KO hasn't had a lasting impact.
I'm excited to see him in the HW division. Cool dude. If his chin is tough I'd fancy him to out manoeuvre everyone.

With all the blah blah blah of starting right away with a contender, this is a disappointment.

Not a bad introduction to the weight
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Carlos Takam - May 18, 2019
Makes perfect sense. All part of making Usyk a mandatory for AJ next year.
I like this fight

takam is pretty recycled now, kinda moving into the territory of martin murray where im bored of seeing him even though hes a respectable fighter

Totally agree.SenorPipino wrote: ↑21 Mar 2019, 19:37Takam's a fringe contender.
It's a legit heavyweight debut bout. Even if Usyk figures to nearly pitch a shutout.
I am thinking this will be a shutout, too.
Not necessarily stylistically, but Takam reminds me of Bert Cooper for whatever reason. How Cooper subbed for Damiani for Holy and Takam subbed for Pulev for Joshua.
Like Cooper, Takam is always around and a solid “go to” guy for stuff like this

It’s a decent toe in the water, but I’d rather see him against a SuoerHeavy - like Dimitrenko or Cojanu.
Usyk is obviously good enough - we want to know if he’s big enough.
I’m sure he does too.

I agree.
I was expecting someone worse actually.

Do you think beating Takam will be indicative of Usyk's ability to beat any of the big boys?Contendeh wrote: ↑21 Mar 2019, 20:01Totally agree.SenorPipino wrote: ↑21 Mar 2019, 19:37Takam's a fringe contender.

Exactly. Takam tells us nothing of Usyk's ability to beat a bigger man.

Takam did go 10 against AJ not all that long ago. His fight with Chisora was good. He and Povetkin had a great fight, but that’s awhile ago now.
I guess I like his work ethic and that he is always game. He’s never shown up to lose. A lot of people didn’t think he’d go past the first few rounds with AJ. Many even question the stoppage and that he could have been the first to go the distance.
I wanted Usyk and Povetkin. For me, Usyk is the best Cruiser to come up since Real Deal and I was getting some Holy v Dokes vibes from that, but it didn’t work out.

For a guy that half the forum think is the man that can beat Joshua. This is pathetic

Holyfield began his heavyweight career with a stoppage over a faded Quick Tillis.
It was just a "get your feet wet" intro to the heavyweight division.
Same for Usyk. It's not meant to be difficult. And Takam might have more in the tank than Tillis did when he fought Holyfield.

We know what Takem has (give or take a few scetchy performances) and what he can take. These days Takem is a sort of gatekeeper to the B level. And a pretty good one too.

Usyk a big deal or a blown up Cruiserweight looking to fit into the Heavyweight mix ?

Joyce did look a bit smaller then. Anyone know what he weighed?forcefraser wrote: ↑22 Mar 2019, 01:02 He beat Joe Joyce easy enough in the semi pros. Joyce is a big man
