Saunders’ to Postpone Super-Middleweight Move

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Former middleweight world titleholder Billy Joe Saunders' move up to super middleweight was postponed on Thursday, promoter allegedly announced.

Warren said in his announcement that Saunders (27-0, 13 KOs), 29, of England, would still face Isufi (27-3-2, 20 KOs), 29, a Serbia native fighting out of Germany at super middleweight in May on a date and at a venue to be determined. But he made no reference to the fight being for a world title.

"With the widely reported changes in Billy Joe Saunders' training situation and the current status of the WBO world super middleweight title, this fight will not take place on April 13th at the SSE Arena, Wembley as was previously announced," Warren said.

Complete waste of his career. How many dates, years, titles, fights, bans are going to roll past before this idiot sorts his shite out?

He will look back with a lot of regret (imo)

So I take it he will still be fighting on or around the same date at middleweight ? I think not .

As others have said complete waste of talent .

I wonder if FW is only keeping him because the perception is that he is one of the stables big guns and it would look bad if Hearn stole him. He probably wants shot of the pudendum, surely he is fed up doing interviews sounding a twat while defending him.

Aye probably a good point. Saunders is a superb talent but on the flip side doesn’t sell tickets, is completely unmarketable for many sponsors and just has too many minor indisciplines outside of the ring that never really go away. It’s a shame as he is a fantastically talented pure slickster but he’s probably more worth as a route to Fury for Warren now as he is a money maker in his own right

Isn't it ironic how Saunders slagged off Eubank Jr,miles apart talent wise but who's making the big money and fighting and who is a twat making nothing.

That's the problem with Saunders though, the big fights almost always fall through.

He's really unlikeable due to this above. Would fight fans, or the sport in general really miss Saunders if he just faded into obscurity?

I think he's blown his chances now,he's hardly known at all by the general public and although his boxing skills are to be admired he is a nasty, foul mouthed bully and i for one wouldn't care if he just walked away.

I agree completely, he is a huge talent but it doesn't seem he will ever reach his full potential. A rematch with Eubank Jr would be about as good as it gets now with this idiot but I think a major title would need to be on the line too and neither of them are big attractions.
