Power ... Rank Errol Spence
Re: Power ... Rank Errol Spence
By your logic, Hagler has no real power because he couldn't hurt and/or stop Duran, who if memory serves, was also a lightweight, and that was at middleweight!
Re: Power ... Rank Errol Spence
Be careful. Spence does read stuff on the internet and has mentioned things said about him I've only heard on Boxrec.oogiebe wrote: ↑24 Mar 2019, 18:36Nah, I'm not the emoticon kind of guy. I've just seen your posts and I'm getting De ja vu, as you remind me too much of some other former and current posters who have, let's just say, similar "styles."sturm vogel wrote: ↑24 Mar 2019, 18:32Ah evidence is now "trolling" to a parked watch dog of anyone who shows divergent thought. No emoticons?oogiebe wrote: ↑24 Mar 2019, 18:31Another bias troll jamming up the boards with bvllshvt trying to sound intelligent.sturm vogel wrote: ↑24 Mar 2019, 18:29A regular who parks here and answers comments with emoticons like Christmas decorations.oogiebe wrote: ↑24 Mar 2019, 18:25Another bore enters the boards!sturm vogel wrote: ↑24 Mar 2019, 18:16Thinking something is more than good is an idea, closer to a belief, but a physical measurement is something else. Failing to even stagger a lightweight is evidence Spence is not a true power puncher. That is not to say that Spence is not -at the least- the second best welterweight in the world. He may be the best welterweight in the world, we just don't know yet until he fights Crawford.oogiebe wrote: ↑18 Mar 2019, 13:23Could be more due to Garcia's ability to take punishment than indicative of Spence's power, which I think is more than good.sturm vogel wrote: ↑18 Mar 2019, 01:12 He couldn't even drop a lightweight. He's a volume, light-medium puncher. Hard hitters maintain power even against the very best.![]()
Re: Power ... Rank Errol Spence
Spence just chose to take no risks and (nearly) completely blank Mikey. He could have opened up more in the last half, but he was in total control and Mikey is very good defensively and tough.
Many, including me, pointed out Spence’s habit of allowing straight shots up the middle. There was nearly none of that allowed in this fight. Spence showed that he can utilize his advantages and stay focused for 12.
As I said earlier, Spence’s power is cumulative. He punishes and disheartens his opponents. That is why so few choose to take the challenge.

Re: Power ... Rank Errol Spence
Maybe but Duran is an ATG. Garcia isn't proved to be that yet.
Plus while we're comparing Spence to Hagler, Hagler stopped certain level of guys. Algeri is the only guy Spence fought that wasn't stopped already. Everyone else have already been stopped before.
Re: Power ... Rank Errol Spence
Add to that , Lamont Peterson just was knocked out by Sergey Lipinets and retired. Spence has good power but let's not get carried away. He hasn't stopped anyone who wasn't stopped before except Chris Algeri and Ocampo who never had a big fight.
