New 2019 Golovkin interview! GGG is all business this time.
It's obvious that GGG is a smart man and he just wants to make more money and launch his promotion business with DAZN. Why not! GGG had a long-hard road to build his profile and now he's trying to milk his status as much as he can. Andrade, Canelo II/Jacobs II, 168 lbs ?

After the Canelo cartel's cold shower this is a chastened Gennady Golovkin going straight for the money no. Not interested much in other details.
Golovkin doesn't usually give much away but Chris Maddox did get him to admit that he had learned a lot of lessons...belts no longer matter...and more or less confess "I am not the same fighter as seven years ago." Apparently Loeffler is staying on as well.
Good format with subtitles and its being able to hear the voice rather than going through an interpreter. DAZN even got in a dig at HBO thrown in by Golovkin at the end. I'm sure there must have been more than a hint of scripting involved in the answers.
Nice to see such high production values too.

I suspect that Loeffler is staying on GGG's team in purely an administrative and advisory capacity, with Golovkin and his wife steering the ship, which is long overdue.
I’ve never liked the way that K2 and Universum orchestrated GGG’s career path. And armed with the benefit of hindsight, I strongly suspect that Gennady is regretful of a few decisions being made for him and opportunities he may have missed out on.
Now that he’s in complete control over his own destiny and is highly-experienced in the boxing industry, he may now start reaping the sort of financial rewards a future Hall-of-famer deserves to receive, because apart from his bouts against Canelo, I feel that he hasn’t been paid his commercial worth throughout the duration of much of his career.

Yup. GGG wants that big cash, period! Nothing wrong with that as money rules this world.Thomastearns wrote: ↑24 Mar 2019, 15:46 After the Canelo cartel's cold shower this is a chastened Gennady Golovkin going straight for the money no. Not interested much in other details.

Not want to say that but GGG may become what Broner is. GGG could have some losses on his record before he's gonna retire. Too bad that Martinez, JCCJr, Sturm and Quillin avoided GGG in his prime.

This isn't an attack on Golovkin, but can you please detail the financial offers that K2 submitted to the likes of Martinez, JCCJr, Sturm and Quillin? K2 didn't try to make those bouts.apollo creed wrote: ↑24 Mar 2019, 16:29Too bad that Martinez, JCCJr, Sturm and Quillin avoided GGG in his prime.
Top Rank tried to make the Chavez Jr. bout with Golovkin (K2 didn't even initiate the talks), but the Mexican rejected it, because Bob Arum was forcing Julio to sign-up for a multi-fight deal. If Chavez Jr. only agreed to a one-off bout against GGG, his purse would have been significantly smaller... and Top Rank even confirmed this.
I don't recall any record of K2 attempting to make bouts between GGG and the likes of Martinez, Sturm and Quillin. It simply didn't happen... ever!
It's the truth, even if you don't want it to be. Loeffler's to blame for a lot of this, not GGG or even his rivals.
A lot of this so-called “everyone is far too scared to fight Golovkin” is myth, perpetuated by K2, due to their own incompetence.

Nope. Those guys acted like GGG wasn't there at that time. But Quillin is still fighting. JCCJr is semi-retired and I heard that Martinez could make a comeback. So now that GGG is a big name, he could get those guys and whoop them as a revenge for those ol' days of ducking.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑24 Mar 2019, 16:34This isn't an attack on Golovkin, but can you please detail the financial offers that K2 submitted to the likes of Martinez, JCCJr, Sturm and Quillin? First of all, Martinez and Sturm were A sides, so they were supposed to make offers if they were interested. Second: Sturm and Golovkin had the same promoter for a while, and Universum was protecting STurm. Third: you don't know that Loefler wasn't contacting them. Fourth: we have DiBella saying on camera that he will not match Sergio with "that animal".

You are a complete idiot. Two time Olympic champion who demonstrated same exceptional skills in pro is overrated? A veteran who has been beating everybody put in front of him for 10+ years stopping most of them is overrated? None of the boxers who faced them in the ring call them overrated.jamamb wrote: ↑24 Mar 2019, 18:14who do u thinks been more overrated ggg or lomatiny_acres wrote: ↑24 Mar 2019, 17:48Good post. Loma already has a better resume than GGG.
GGG biggest problem was his management. They didn't pay him close to his worth. So they definitely didn't pay his opponents worth a damn either.
GGG would of had better opposition if he was aligned with either Arum or Oscar for the last 10 years

But the ones who call either top 10 p4p of all time are over rating them.
Sorry but it's a long long history of greatness in this sport. Neither have achieved enough to warrant that comparison

You might say an awful lot of interesting things, but the rather simple fact you can’t deny relates to the lack of K2’s offers made to GGG’s peers.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑24 Mar 2019, 18:58There is nothing good in this post. You can’t pretend something happened purely out of faith.
In fact, my stance is strengthened by Tom Loeffler never confirming any offers were made either.
If you sincerely believe otherwise then quote his words.
Please don’t pretend I’m attacking Golovkin either, since my criticism over the years has always been targeted directly at Tom Loeffler.

I also remeber the time when Cotto became 158 lbs ' lineal mw champion' and he did avoid GGG to fight Canelo. Then after Canelo became the 155 lbs 'lineal mw champ' lol he vacated and waited GGG another two years to get older. Imo the truth is if all these guys like Sturm , Martinez, JCCJr, Quillin, Cotto and Canelo would have fought GGG back then they would've been beaten.

The money wasn't there. So what kind of offers K2 had to make as GGG wasn't a high profile fighter back then ?
GGG had to fight for the mandatory positions, then to fight for the major titles and make the big names to fight him. This took him a lot of time and of course he got older.

Did GGG want to face all his big name 160lbs rivals during the course of his career? Yes.
Did the sports’ governing bodies attempt to mandate bouts between GGG and certain titleholders? Only a few times.
Did K2 regularly submit offers or attempt to negotiate bouts with GGG’s big name rivals? This rarely happened. In fact, there’s very little evidence to say this occurred.
You keep mentioning names that allegedly ducked GGG, but it’s interesting that you can’t provide details of Tom Loeffler’s offers to those guys or even provide confirmation that K2 attempted to negotiate the terms to secure those bouts.

This is what normally happens when you initially start with K2 you start branching off - Klitschko's aren't promoters the brains behind the US operations was Tom Loeffler

I also remeber the time when Cotto became 158 lbs ' lineal mw champion' and he did avoid GGG to fight Canelo. Then after Canelo became the 155 lbs 'lineal mw champ' lol he vacated and waited GGG another two years to get older. Imo the truth is if all these guys like Sturm , Martinez, JCCJr, Quillin, Cotto and Canelo would have fought GGG back then they would've been beaten.![]()
And I'm paraphrasing:
"GGG punches like a mule. You don't need to put yourself in with someone like that. Best avoided."

Re: New 2019 Golovkin interview! GGG is all business this time.
Froch actually said: “Just swerve Golovkin like the plague. He punches like a mule. You don’t need to be in with him. Dangerous fellow!”, which is a remark that was clearly said in a tongue-in-cheek manner… and if you doubt this claim, then please just watch this video (the start point should commence from the precise moment he said those words)!Finkel wrote: ↑25 Mar 2019, 05:34I also recall an interview with Froch at the back end of his career, being asked if he would be interested in a catch weight super fight.apollo creed wrote: ↑25 Mar 2019, 04:49Spot on.
Ggg was a very special fighter but the garbage of being so avoided was far fetched
First of all, Martinez and Sturm were A sides, so they were supposed to make offers if they were interested. Second: Sturm and Golovkin had the same promoter for a while, and Universum was protecting STurm. Third: you don't know that Loefler wasn't contacting them. Watch the entire video and you’ll understand Froch’s consistent deadpan style of humour!
There’s a huge difference between sarcasm and sincerity!

"The deal we made with the WBA is that Sturm was allowed a voluntary defense, and if he wins, his next fight will be a mandatory defense," said K2 promoter Tom Loeffler, who promotes Golovkin as part of the Klitschko brothers' stable of fighters. "They have been ordered to make that fight by Sept. 30. At this point, Sturm is running out of options. Sturm, at this time, holds the record for being a champion the longest without having a mandatory defense. Two years ago, Gennady was the interim champion and Sturm was the WBA champion. Sturm then got elevated to super champion. For the last two years, Gennady has been trying to fight him."
Golovkin, who has traveled to New York to meet with American television network executives, hopes to fight in the United States -- but only after the fight with Sturm, if it happens.
"I want the fight with Felix Sturm," Golovkin said. "That is the only fight I really want at this time. I do think he will get in the ring with me by Sept. 30.."

'Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin will make his HBO return on July 12th; his opponent for the fights is what is shocking. ‘GGG’ is in negotiations to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. at 168 lbs.
JCC is coming off a dominating performance against Bryan Vera and is surely thinking that he’s one of the elite boxers once again. Golovkin has the skills to bring Chavez Jr. back to reality.
Of course the appeal for this fight for Chavez Jr. is the huge pay day that will come to both him and GGG. HBO is looking at the Forum in LA as the site for this event and they’ll most likely make this their second PPV event of the year.'

'Negotiations of Gennady Golovkin and Peter Quillin fight have failed, Tengrinews report citing Oleg German, manager of the WBA and IBO champion from Kazakhstan. According to German, Golovkin has been working with HBO for a long time, while Quillin has a contract with Showtime. The boxers could not agree on the company that would broadcast the fight. Quillin’s promoters suggested having a competition between the two channels and give the winner the right to broadcast the Golovkin-Quillin fight. But GGG’s team could not agree to that because of their binding agreement with HBO.'

'Last week, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. rejected a proposal to fight IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, at 168, on July 19 at the Forum in Inglewood, California - because Chavez wasn't happy with a signing a contract extension with Top Rank. The Mexican star was not satisfied with portions of the extension, including his guaranteed minumem per fight.
But now a new offer has been presented, which better suits what Chavez is looking for.
"We have to look at everything, but things are looking good. Nothing is going to get closed until next week because right now everyone is on vacation," Chavez said.'
