A correction to Eder Jofre's record
Eder Jofre's real full record is not the 72-2-4 (50) commonly listed but it is 75-2-4 (52). The record books don't have his first three bouts. I have the official record from the Brazilian Federation and can upload it.
These bouts don't show up
September 21st, 1956 vs. Osmar Crocicchia which he won via ROUND 3 KO in Sao Paulo (DEBUT)
January 5th, 1957 vs. Valter Valentim which he won by DECISION 6 in Sao Paulo
February 28th, 1957 vs. Acyr Sereno which he won via ROUND 1 KO in Rio Di Janeiro
I located Sereno http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/194679
and Valentim http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/692249
I'm trying to upload the documents. I have them on my computer. How can I do that?

Re: A correction to Eder Jofre's record
I am very anxious to see the Brazilian Federation record...Jofre had numerous fights in 1954-1956 scheduled for either 4 or 6 rounds and listed as "profesionais" in the Brazilian papers (he won them all), and those fights you mentioned are listed as such. The September fight was just prior to his going to Montevideo, where he lost in the finals of the Latin American championships, and then to the Olympics, where he lost in the second round (his only two amateur losses as far as I know).

Re: A correction to Eder Jofre's record
What is your e-mail? I can send it to you from my computer tomorrow at work.
It would appear the Crochiccia one was before the Olympics. I couldn’t find a record for him but the other two came after the Olympics.
Regarding his amateur record I always read it was 148-2 but have also heard (and his son said this too) that the loss to Barientos was the only amateur loss so I’m unsure if he was 148-1 or 149-1 or if it indeed was 148-2. Do you have much information on the amateur tournaments?

Re: A correction to Eder Jofre's record
You're both wrong here and I believe the dates mentioned for these fights is likely wrong too. The Sereno fight was held March 27 1956 and was a 6-round fight between 2 amateurs won by Jofre in round 1. The scheduled distance of a fight does not say anything about whether it was pro or amateur. Through history, there have been amateur fights as long as 15 rounds. Here's a contemporary report of Jofre's March 1957 fight, explicitly naming it his pro debut. It's a bit small and the resolution is not so good either, hope you can read it after clicking on it.

Please do not trust anything coming from a so called Brazilian commission

Re: A correction to Eder Jofre's record
Thanks for that. Interesting. The Crocicchia one makes sense as being a mistake on the Federations part since it was before the his two fights at the Melbourne games which were November 26th and November 28th. The Sereno and Valentim fights would represent the only two Brazilian opponents he ever fought as a pro if they were indeed pro fights but this report shows as the Raul Lopez fight at a later date being his true debut.wouter wrote: ↑27 Mar 2019, 05:40 You're both wrong here and I believe the dates mentioned for these fights is likely wrong too. I'd love to see if there's data on some of his earlier fights and some of his non-title fights and early fights. From what I'm told in Brazil it's hard to track down such things as they don't really have a culture of preserving things from what his son had told me. I'd love to see some of the amateur details too but beyond what's been recorded at the Olympics and stuff he'd said on the documentaries about him that's been hard to trace too.
Re: A correction to Eder Jofre's record
Please don't assume anything about the reliability or reputability of this Federation.
