Efe Ajagba vs Michael Wallisch April 27
Efe Ajagba vs Michael Wallisch April 27
Efe Ajagba gets back into the ring with former fringe contender Michael Wallisch (19-1 12 ko's) on April 27 in Las Vegas on the undercard of the Easter JR/Barthelemy WBA lightweight Championship.
In my mind, this is a step up from Mansaur in that Wallisch was a mildly regarded fringe contender before being ko'd by Christian Hammer in 5 rounds his last time out. Wallisch presents a big HW with decent power who will be a test of sorts for Ajagba. While I believe that Efe will ultimately get a kayo win, Wallisch, 6'5", may be the best skilled and hardest hitter Ajagba has faced to date.
The card will be shown on Showtime and I'm assuming this fight will be aired.

I love how busy this guy is.
It’s always a good sign.

Re: Efe Ajagba vs Michael Wallisch April 27
wallisch was dreadful vs hammer, hell probably just lay down
i honestly think a guy like john rice would do better. hes like a rodney hernandez type, not a flashy names but could maybe go rounds. guys like mansour are flashier names but imo i could tell theyd go down quick based on there last fight
still, on paper its not a bad opponent

I hope Efe will face some solid boxers very soon. Let us say - H. Fury or Kabayal.

Efe can take his time. Get some experience in and he will ONLY get his shot when he’s in a mandatory position.
Efe has had a lot of unnecessary hype on this forum since that guy walked out on the fight. Who even spoke about Efe on here before then?
Let him take it easy. I’m liking that he’s keeping active unlike most HW’s. Work his way up through the opposition. A few good names. Make a bigger name for himself. After 20 fights, we can see then.

I've been following him for most of his short career. He does have time and his handlers would be wise to take advantage of it, however; I think with the right matchmaking and if he continues to progress, he's a year away from entering the discussion. I think he's that good.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑29 Mar 2019, 19:26 Efe can take his time. Get some experience in and he will ONLY get his shot when he’s in a mandatory position.

Michael Wallisch‘s record seems strangely reminiscent to Mark De Mori’s. I hope I’m wrong, but that’s how it reads like.

He's no great shakes, but a decent 10th opponent.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑29 Mar 2019, 19:31 Michael Wallisch‘s record seems strangely reminiscent to Mark De Mori’s. I hope I’m wrong, but that’s how it reads like.

Hard to believe that he's only a 9 fight novice.oogiebe wrote: ↑29 Mar 2019, 19:35He's no great shakes, but a decent 10th opponent.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑29 Mar 2019, 19:31 Michael Wallisch‘s record seems strangely reminiscent to Mark De Mori’s. I hope I’m wrong, but that’s how it reads like.
He's one of the more talked about fighters coming up.
And he's so young he will only improve.

He's getting a lot of talk because his power looks unworldly partially due to the stiffs he's feasting on. We'll see if it comes down after the next several fights, depending on his foes.tiny_acres wrote: ↑29 Mar 2019, 21:09Hard to believe that he's only a 9 fight novice.oogiebe wrote: ↑29 Mar 2019, 19:35He's no great shakes, but a decent 10th opponent.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑29 Mar 2019, 19:31 Michael Wallisch‘s record seems strangely reminiscent to Mark De Mori’s. Kabayel will not face Efe. It makes no sense.oogiebe wrote: ↑29 Mar 2019, 21:26You're very passive aggressive...lol!jamamb wrote: ↑29 Mar 2019, 21:16ya, pretty sure hell get stopped early, he was dreadful vs hammer and showed no mental or physical toughness, did the guys getting excited about this watch that?Enlightened-One wrote: ↑29 Mar 2019, 19:31 Michael Wallisch‘s record seems strangely reminiscent to Mark De Mori’s. Agit is probably 18 months away from a title shot. Why risk it?

I was just poking the bear on Kabayel. I previously posted the same sentiment.tiny_acres wrote: ↑29 Mar 2019, 21:46Kabayel will not face Efe. He may be a step up from the Amir Mansour that he beat but prime for prime Wallisch is nowhere near Mansour's level.oogiebe wrote: ↑29 Mar 2019, 17:04 Efe Ajagba gets back into the ring with former fringe contender Michael Wallisch (19-1 12 ko's) on April 27 in Las Vegas on the undercard of the Easter JR/Barthelemy WBA lightweight Championship.

After a career of kicking cans, Wallisch finally steps up and gets prompty bashed by Hammer. Either he's developing masochistic tendencies or he's feeling liberated by the loss of his '0'. Perhaps he realizes his career has peaked so he might as well get on with his new role as a trial-horse for up and coming talent.

Re: Efe Ajagba vs Michael Wallisch April 27
I hope Efe Ajagba is not rushed to the top too quickly. It seems these days boxers are fighting for world titles after only a handful of fights. Efe is only 24 so has plenty of time to mature into a great heavyweight. He needs another 10 fights in the next 2 years to develop more. I would like to see him fight for smaller titles first but these days most boxers are by passing the minimal ones for world titles.
If he stays unbeaten I can see him fighting for a world title within 2 years but I dont think thats a good thing. If he was older then yes move on quickly as possible but hes got years ahead of him.
I think Efe Ajagba could very well be the next generation of heavyweight boxer and take over from Anthony Joshua.

Re: Efe Ajagba vs Michael Wallisch April 27
I wouldn't discount the possibility although it's perhaps a little early to think of Ajagba as a future champion. I agree he should take his time and llearn his craft.

Re: Efe Ajagba vs Michael Wallisch April 27
He seems to be on pace for five or six fights this year. I think he's good enough to really step it up on levels during this year and get into the top 10/20 by mid next year. That's not rushing it, as he has improved on at least one aspect of his game each fight (granted not very long fights) and is very patient in finishing his opponents, which is a great sign of maturing.tiny_acres wrote: ↑30 Mar 2019, 12:52I'd love to see him fight 6 to 8 times a year for the next 2 or 3 years.
Keep the kid busy
Re: Efe Ajagba vs Michael Wallisch April 27
Mansour now Wallisch. I've no complaints about the regularity nor the choice of opposition. It's all good.

When a guy has only 8 fights (Harper doesn't included) how can you complain about the opposition?
He's supposed to be fighting soft opposition and this stage and learning from different styles.
It will be quite a while before an opponent enters the ring with Ajagba who has a realistic chance to win.

The lad needs rounds. That's when you up the level. He's had all but two fights stopped inside the first. Time to up the ante. I think Wallisch can provide some rounds, at least I hope so.SenorPipino wrote: ↑30 Mar 2019, 14:49 When a guy has only 8 fights (Harper doesn't included) how can you complain about the opposition?
