Why does David diamante say the fighters surname
Why does David diamante say the fighters surname
Twice? Is there a particular reason?
Re: Why does David diamante say the fighters surname
Apparently that's how it used to be done.

For those who are MMA officianados they will remember Rich ‘G-Man’ Goins who used to be the MC for UFC. He used to announce the fighters names twice.
I honestly never noticed him doing it as I think the did used to be traditional.

Re: Why does David diamante say the fighters surname
It's a shame Buffer never did it. Hearing him call Darren Barker as "Baker" twice would've been twice as funny
Re: Why does David diamante say the fighters surname
Yeah, I remember them doing it back in the day. You watch some of Tyson's early fights and they did it then.
I like it, long may he continue.

I did not watch the video but I assume he explains it is a homage to when they did not have a PA system and would announce the surname once, then turn and announce it to the other side of the venue

Re: Why does David diamante say the fighters surname
I like him...... not sure if anyone has seen Youtuber Movie Reviewer Decker Shado - they've got to be related, same hair, same voice.
And I'm glad he mentioned Ed Derian and Mark Bero as hero's - great MC's. Ed Derian was the campest MC ever - This fine Gentleman - just so polite.
Jimmy Lennon Jnr is still number 1 for me.
On a different level, does Shogun Logan still MC - he use to get some stick, but I thought he was okay.

PAUL GRRRRAAAAAAAAAAARGGHHHHHHHH...............................GRAAAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGGHHHHH
The crowd would think he was doing his best impression of a rabid dog.
Re: Why does David diamante say the fighters surname
When dreadhead says it twice, you drink.
When someone gets a KD, you drink.
When Smiff/Bellend/Crotch says something stupid, you drink
Then you come on here and try and score the RBR.
Simple.

Back in the day the Madison Square Garden announcer johnny Adie used to say - for example- .. and in this corner the heavyweight champion of the world - Rocky Marcianoooooooooooooo - Marciano.

Fair enough, if your of a certain age it's going to seem a bit weird unless you know why he does it

I like Diamante as an MC.
But I'm not crazy about that dreadlock thing he's got going on.

Re: Why does David diamante say the fighters surname
Sounds like a fun game!
This sounds like a reasonable assumption, and it is an old school thing as people say. I like it personally but Twitter seems to have a bit of a melt down, it really pi$ses people off somewhat!
Probably the types that joyously sing along to Sweet Caroline
Re: Why does David diamante say the fighters surname
Hillarious, now I remember it - you can sense he's blagging he's clearly not written their names on his cue cards...... "shit what am I going to say, I don't know his name"..... I know I'll say "ladies and gentleman for your entertainment"!
"Shit he's Paul something..... fornicate knows whose the other one".
