WBA World welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (61-7-2, 39 KOs) is taking a huge risk in facing WBA Super World champion Keith Thurman (29-0, 22 KOs) on July 13 on Showtime pay-per-view. The news of their potential fight was broken on Monday. Pacquiao and Thurman are said to be in “advanced talks” for a July 13 showdown, according to Mike Coppinger. It’s still not a done deal yet, but the negotiations are underway.
Presumably, the end game is the winner of the Errol Spence Jr. vs. Shawn Porter fight.
The location of the Pacquiao vs. Thurman fight will come down to one of these venues: MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Barclays Center, in New York or Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
Pac has major cohones if he takes this fight. Thurman didn’t look great last outing but is still dangerous and if motivated you’d imagine he can still make top form.

X2
Last fight he was shaking of 2 years of ring rust. I think he takes Pac by late ko
Two and a half years ago, this was a mismatch; now, I'm not so sure.
Thurman looked far from his best during the second half of his last fight and Pacquiao, although clearly past his best, has looked pretty decent during his last 2 contests.
I'm going to go with Thurman, as I feel he'll be sharper next time out, but I think Pacquiao might make him work for his money.
Horn physically beat up a younger Pac 2 years ago. No reason to feel that a much superior fighter in Thurman can't do the same and get a convincing, legit win.
But the fight hasn't been exactly made yet. "Advanced talks" they say.
So there's no telling if it will really come off. Manny seemingly prefers to wait around for a Mayweather bout that will probably never happen.
Pacman past his best will still be Good enough to beat One Time IF he brings the best 40 year old version of Pacman and people bringing up the close and controversial Jeff Horn defeat should remember styles make fight's and Thurman and Horn are the total opposite in that regard GO THE PACMAN.

Agreed amigo!! Great matchup!!
I think Pac can make it competitive but expect Thurman to win by clearcut but competitive decision.
Pacquiao becomes old over night in this fight. Thurman comes in motivated and in top form. I got Thurman by wide decision. Thurman won't press the issue with Pacquaio, but his younger legs and natural size advantage will make for a relatively easy night. I just don't see Pacquaio doing well against a guy who uses his legs as much as Thurman (especially someone with all the physical advantages) does at this stage of Pacquiaos career.
It's kind of a passing of the torch type of fight and the end of a era. Not that I think Thurman is the guy at 147, 3rd at best and possibly even 4th behind Porter at this point. But I see this as a retirement type fight for Pacquiao where he'll realize he's not going to be able to compete with the top dogs at 147.

I hope I'm wrong and Pacquaio can pull it off.
Same here, I also hope Pacquiao can score an upset, but I doubt it.
I think it is a passing of the torch matchup. Keith Thurman can always use a win over a living legend whilst a slowing Manny Pacquiao has no business beating Keith Thurman in 2019.

Thurman almost got knocked out by josesito Lopez. He's well past a torch passing. He just wants to make sure he doesn't have to see Spence.
Welterweight is stacked with talent. The fact that Pac is still throwing his name in the mix shows a great heart and deserves respect even if it looks like hes picking the champ whos looked the most vulnerable lately. I would be surprised if Manny can beat Thurman at this point but it should be less of a "beat down" I dont see him landing anything of note on Spence or Crawford. Porter would probably wrestle him into an ugly mess of a fight. Danny Garcia and Thurman present a friendlier style matchup for him IMO
Surely Thurman is a favourite but I think that Pac’s decline hasn’t been too dramatic so it’s fair to expect he’ll be bringing some solid quality into this fight. Considering that Thurman may not be back at his very best just yet, this can be an intriguing ‘clash of generations‘ type of fight. Then IMO it’s down to how their styles mix.
Enough people believing that an ancient legend can recapture the fountain of youth along with lightening in a bottle and somehow topple a younger, stronger, talented top gun.
It seldom happens. Give Pacquiao careful matchmaking and the right opponents (a worn, aging smaller Matthysse or a reluctant paper tiger in Broner) and he can still shine.
But put him in with a Thurman and suddenly every one of those 40 years will become painfully obvious.
Marquez put Pacquiao to sleep. Horn mauled him. Thurman will retire him.

Thurman couldn't retire the ghost of Josesito Lopez. infact the fact, shot2bits Lopez had him on queer street. Pac vs Thurman is a mismatch, Kieth is a joke, never a world level fighter in his puff. He absolutely stinks and has no business in the ring with a legend like Pacman.
