Word has it that Conor Benn......

Post by MasterG »

is looking to fight Chris Jenkins later this year for the British title.

For me Jenkins seems to fight an array of opposition with very mixed records and abilities. I think due to this fact and that he doesnt seem to knock out a great deal of opponents I think Conor could beat him.

Whats your thoughts?

I think many will see Jenkins as a weak champion. I think he's very underrated with some strong skills...... Jenkins could give lots of prospects a tough fight. I see him like the equivalent of a Gavin McDonnell.

Benn is bang average and Hearn will probably see this as his best chance to get a meaningful belt. Best chance don't mean easy though and I think Jenkins would deal with Benn handily as Benn's area level

Jenkins isn't world class and may not be good enough to win a Euro title, but is a solid British champion and leagues above Benn. Hopefully the fight happens for the Welshman, big exposure, big money and a soft opponent.
Benn possibly could improve in time but is being thrown to the lions here.

Jenkins would have no problems beating that Frenchman on a UD.

He’d deal with Benn.

ya peynaud or whatever his name was

jenkins is just way above any one benn has ever fought, an experience am who boxed in 2 world championships, and british level pro now. benn would need to have made absolutely massive improvements to win

Benn is good to watch and will give it a go - I’ll be keen to see it.

But he'll need a whole Rocky-movie-montage of improvements to be competitive. Ill be generous and say, “punchers chance.”

Jenkins should beat Benn comfortably enough.

Benn is young enough that the odd loss here and there won't do any harm.

I imagine he will probably float around the lower end of domestic level for a while in the hope of picking up an easy or vacant title shot.

Jenkins put in a career best performance against Garton, I never though he was capable of boxing like that to a plan

I reckon Jenkins would jump at that fight. Very Good win beating Garton. I don't rate Benn at the moment. See Jenkins winning

Jenkins has the tools/style to box his way to a close points win here. Problem for Jenkins is that if it's close then Benns almost certainly getting the nod!

Jenkins will stop Benn, it will be too one sided, Benn is more the standard of Jenkins prizefighter victims, area level.
While Benn has showed he has a big heart, he hasn't shown a rock solid chin.

He was always targeting Garton so doesn’t surprise me and Chris is free to go between Sky and BT so. Chris schools him too much experience in big fights.
