That McDonald intro never ceases to amaze me, at the time I could have sworn he was on something because it was so unlike him, I used to think he was one of the best MC's out there and certainly the best in this country.

Can't even say the name of the fighter with the same surname as him, he must have had some issues going on back then because as I said I always thought he was always on the ball.

They did this was back. I'm sure it's done at Frazier-Ali I...

I'm sure this Diamante chap is okay but it seems weird to me to have him doing British shows...sort of cheapens it... We have plenty of great Shakespearean actors who could do a better job...or even Brian Blessed.

British show: I want a British voice.

I know what you are saying. We used to have huge shows with short intros, now we have mediocore shows with huge intros - and I don't understand why they need both Diamante and Buffer for the PPV stuff.... I like Diamante, in fact preferring him over the Buff these days - but that's two salaries when I'm sure Craig Stephen et al would be cheaper.

I watched Bruno vs Bugner the other day - for those who are younger than me this was a HUGE show, stadium fight and the press coverage / preview / build up was massive. In terms of build up it put even Klitchsko vs Joshua in the shade.

All the MC said was
"First a former British, Commonwealth and European Champion, Joe Bugner - his opponent a former European Champion - Frank Bruno".

That was is - no record.... no ABA mention, no mention of the fact that both were former world title challengers. With one going the distance with Ali and Frazier. Short but very Sweet.

I blame Buffer and Lennon Jr with their silly catchphrases, they've become almost as big stars as some of the fighters, richer too probably. So many of the upcoming ones try to ape them.

I did used to love him when he first came on the scene - "Sports fans and Sky fans".... used to love that back handed compliment.... "hey couch potato - enjoy the fight".

I like these guys in Vegas. Not here. I want the British experience. It's like being in France on holiday and going out for a Chinese.

I think you just need somebody who does it without the amateur dramatics, I've never understood the rational behind reading all the gibberish and shouting like a spanner, most people don't give a damn about the fighters record, just keep it brief, like the bloke who reads the football scores on a Saturday tea time.

They shouldn't be, why can't an MC just say "World" rather than "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRLLLLLLLLLD!"

Terry Kavanagh, who does the MTK shows, is pretty good I think.

I enjoy Diamante's announcing and though I never knew the precise reason behind it, I recognised that it was 'old school' and I always enjoy hearing it.
