I think Cuevas would win this. McCrory had a big height reach advantage on Colin Jones and could on get a draw and scraped a out a close decision in the rematch. Cuevas was a lot better than Jones. Cuevas stops McCrory in the mid rounds.

McCrory was a babe at in his early twenties when he fought Jones, who was a big step up fight for him at the time. Milton primed a couple of years after that and Jones was no bum.

Two years later McCrory got blown out early by Curry and never did much after that. Jones was probably the best fighter he ever beat. Jones was certainly not a bum, but he clearly was not as good as Cuevas.

Milt McCrory was no Tommy Hearns. Cuevas crushes him in two rounds.

X2
Milton was a great amateur but just a good pro.
I'd pick Cuevas by late knockout

Agreed, people forget how fearsome cuevas was before Tommy. I think he had 3 straight title defenses breaking jaws.

Milton mentioned in an interview that he wanted to fight Duran and Cuevas and both turned him down. In a fight, I think Milton wins an easy decision in a 10 or 12 rounder, close if it is 15.

Wow a good argument between McCrory and Cuevas and how each would win their fights should it happened back then. :TU:
