I think the ABC bodies and the TV/Promoter deals are two seperate problematic aspects really.

Ultimately the promoters lead the way. Set up deals with the TV companies and pick the most profitable / risk assessed fights for their clients. The governing bodies come in to play as they allow for several different avenues for a promoter to look down.

So as well as promoters/fighters being tied to a specific tv company leading to match ups not being viable to happen, we have multiple organisations recognised world title belts to pick and choose from, leading to more avoidance of top names.

But the TV people have the money and therefore the power. They can veto certain opponents for top fighters if they choose to. Increasingly the world bodies seem like factotum for the TV channels.

This year there seems to have been more boxing on TV but less fights that I've actually looked forward to.

Don't underestimate how complicit they tv companies COULD be in protecting a fighter also!

Sky would probably be all for AJ fighting 4 no marks, knowing fans will pay to watch him, and stadiums will sell out, and THEN get the Wilder superfight on.

Rather than demand the Wilder fight, and if he loses, take a big profit hit in subsequent fights.

The thing to remember is that boxing is a business and the people involved want to make as much money as they can while they can and this isn't a new trend either. Sonny Liston was kept waiting for 2 years as number one contender while Patterson fought guys his handlers knew he could beat. Everyone goes on about the Fabulous Four none of whom fought Mike McCallum. Fights don't happen when it makes sporting sense they happen when it makes financial sense.

Boxing is crap at the moment. We should be in the peak of the season and the major fights we've got this month at two sacrificial British lambs going over to America to get slaughtered by the best in the business.

I always think of great nights when I stayed awake to watch Barrera Morales, Corrales Castillo and Gatti Ward. What happed bosing used to be not only so accessible but it seemed the best fought the best. Maybe it’s just my nostalgic thinking, perhaps it’s always been a game or avoiding danger until absolute nessisary but what cannot be denied is the accessibility of the sport.

So fragmented all these competing networks and online platforms some suck like (DAZN) that are not available in the UK. I remember recording some lesser fights, action I caught up on the day after, nowadays you need subscriptions to several networks, BT, Sky, allegedly, and one Edward Hearn has us paying PPV for has been BumFights, like seriously be made that Bellew a multi millionaire and no one is going to convince me that he is nothing more than slightly above average.

They say BOXiNG at an all time high, really, that because AJ...... reality is he done nothing sine the Kilitschko win and we are now expected to pay ppv to watch a foregone conclusion

not digging you out, but gatti ward wasnt a big fight at the time ,it was 2 fighters fighting for there career , it was on friday night non ppv , i am mid thirty, i remember barrera morales now them 2 were warriors, but i think last few years in boxing are the best i can remember , this years been slow
