Cannot stand these nhl fights. If they wanna fight they should try boxing or mma. They will quickly realize they are not so bada!s as they think. I like hockey, i like when it is rough, but these fights are just embarassing

lol i always lol at how the refs stand around while guys knock each other around, and then suddenly decide to break it up and act like its all wrong

hockey is funny. you cant do anything without someone on the other team getting pissed and shoving you for it.

The refs are instructed to break it up when the fighters are on the ground. Ref safety.

Ovechkin fighting while wearing his helmet and visor. Oh yeah, real tough guy fighting a kid. It used to be against the creed to fight with a visor. All were men in those days; today some men are called women and some seem to think its true yes it's true.

Meh...NHL fight. Shame the lad took a concussion, but all's fair when you drop the gloves.

I take it you're a blank page with respect to NHL history and fighting.

Hockey fights are maybe a level above baseball brawls.

But usually nothing too thrilling. A lot of grabbing and holding and twirling each other around.

The badass punches don't often start until the combatants see that the refs are going to intervene.

those won can't understand NHL fights probably never played hockey... it's as much intense as a fighting sport in that you take constant hurt at blazzing speeds... it's extremely physical, competitive and culminates in power displays... but that's when you can... most players just control that anger and physical agression intensity for the good of the team (not taking penalties which is critical in NHL hockey).

Aggression in hockey including fights sells tickets and raises TV numbers. Ovechkin is good at both playing and fighting,

Ovechkin definately a physical player... very powerful... but the fighting has gone down drastically... players who fight and can play in today's nhl are becoming extremely rare... at the end of the 70, the 80s and early 90s, big player sho could fight were key to control the physical aspect of a fast game like hockey. When i was young i remember my father reading the sports tabloids and seing almost tale of the tape type of two page feature on the guys that were about to meet in the next NHL game... it ain't like that anymore... players who fight have nhl elite hockey skills now... and are a small minority in the league... Ovech just a freak
