Popular Irishman Stephen Ormond will take on WBO European lightweight champion Craig Evans for the Welshman’s title in Cardiff on June 1 – live on ESPN+ and iFL TV.

‘The Rock’ Ormond (27-5, 13 KOs) was outpointed by Evans (19-2-2, 3 KOs) in Belfast in June 2017 but is determined to regain a belt he first won with a first-round stoppage of Adam Mate back in 2013.

Ormond said: “I’m very happy this fight has been made because it’s for a significant title and it’s also a rematch.

“He outpointed me the first time we met but I put in a woeful performance. I’m looking to improve on that significantly this time around.

“I’m looking to do a lot differently and fight the way I know I can fight. I’ll fight a smarter fight than the first fight. It was a horrible performance and he beat me fair and square then.

“I don’t look too much into being the away fighter. I’ve been the away fighter many, many times. To me, this is just another fight.”

Evans, who originally hails from Newport, won the vacant belt back in November with a comfortable points win over Boy Jones.

Topping another stellar #MTKFightNight in Wales is Jay Harris’ EBU European title clash with recent world title challenger Angel Moreno with other local stars such as Jacob Robinson, Alex Hughes, Jacob Lovell and Kieran Gething looking to steal the show.

I thought MTK signed a deal with NoxBation. So I don't get why they don't show MTK cards.

People forget about these cards because they're on Youtube.

Only MTK try reminding people via Twitter.

Got a few quid on Evans points.
But I’ve got a feeling that Ormond might be further down the slide than he’s looked and could get stopped.

Really good card.

With these MTK shows on YouTube are they only shown live or you can stop and start like a typical YouTube video.
I’d like to watch this in bits throughout the night.

Vale Sports Arena, Cardiff, Wales - For the vacant EBU flyweight title, Jay Harris (16-0, 8 KOs) picked up the biggest win of his career with a twelve round unanimous decision over Angel Moreno (19-4-2, 6 KOs). The scores were 117-111, 119-109 and 120-108.

Moreno was coming off a twelve round decision loss to WBC world champion Charlie Edwards in March.

The first round was a war with Harris taking the fight right to Moreno, who quickly obliged to trade back. Both boxers were stunned during these big exchanges.

Harris was still putting together the better punches and combinations when trapping Moreno against the ropes. They continued to trade in the third, of what was quickly becoming a shootout.

By the sixth, Harris was in full control with accurate punches and was walking Moreno down. Moreno was landing one shot at a time and often getting countered.

Going into the tenth, Moreno was cut around the right eye. The contest continued to play out in the same fashion for the remainder of the fight, with Harris outworking Moreno and dominating the action.

For the WBO European lightweight title, Craig Evans (20-2-2, 3 KOs) retained his belt with a ten round unanimous decision in his rematch with Stephen Ormond (27-6, 13 KOs).

The scores were 98-92, 97-92 and 95-94.

Coming in, Evans had won two in a row and captured the vacant WBO strap when he won a ten round decision over Boy Jones in November of last year.

And Ormond had won his last three fights, after losing back to back bouts to Paul Hyland, and also to Evans in June of 2017. Ormond had a stay buys win back March over Oscar Amador.

The second time around, Evans was busier, more accurate with punches and outboxed Ormond in the majority of the fight.
