For a guy who hadn't put on gloves since he was a teenager & focused on an entirely different sport--- focusing on power training--- Alzado didn't do bad at all, even if Ali wasn't serious in there.

Unfortunately I watched this debacle. Kind of like Geraldo Rivera's "Capone's Vault." A lot of nothing. I'll give it to Alzado though, he was there to fight. Even though it looked pathetic. Lucky Ali didn't take it seriously.

Ali was an occasion fighter, he fought better the tougher the challenge. It was well known he looked poor in sparring and exhibitions, he just didn’t try too hard. If that was a real fight and Ali was serious he would have battered him

Ali knew that Alzado was a very popular figure in Denver, where he played for the Broncos.

So he pretty much allowed the local guy to do his thing. Ali, after all, was a showman.

Just another day in the ring for a 37-year-old Ali. But the moment of a lifetime for Alzado.

Alzado was fortunate that he didn't get frisky in an exhibition with a Frazier or a Foreman.

They weren't as playful as Ali, and might have taken Alzado's head off if he took liberties.

seemed like an hour and 55 minutes of nothing until he found the bottle in "the Vault"anyway from what I remember watching that ( along with 30 million other people) live back in 1986.
