Lloyd Honeyghan vs Pipino Cuevas

Post by scorpio83 »

Who would win in their prime at welterweight in 15 rounds between Lloyd Honeyghan and Pipino Cuevas? Would Cuevas try to knock him out in the early rounds or will Honeyghan punish him with good combinations to wear him down before knocking him out in the later rounds between 8 to 15 later than Hearns and Duran each did against Cuevas?

Do you think Curry was sub par against Honeyghan due to weight problems ? To me, Curry at his best was better than Cuevas. I don't discount Pipino's wins against Weston and Ranzany and Espada but I just can't see him beating Honeyghan easily.

Curry had a ton of issues going on before this fight, both personal and professional, one of which was his weight. I think he weighed close to 170 less than 7 weeks before the fight. Managerial issues; death in the family. Not saying Lloyd wouldn't have won anyway, but it was a stacked deck against Curry.

Geez. Pipino would smash him.

Nice win for the ages against Curry, but Honeyghan didn't fare well against other names like Breland and Starling.

Jawbreaker Pipino was a phenomenal force at welter for 4 years.

He would have run Honeyghan out of the ring. Walking him down, left hooks to the body, left hooks to the jaw. One after another.

Honeyghan was fortunate that he came of age in the 1980s, several years after Pipino went on the decline.

Lloyd would put a fight, but Pipino would be too much. Cuevas takes out Honeyghan in 11.
