Do you think that more than 50% of the top level fighters use PEDs?
Do you think that more than 50% of the top level fighters use PEDs?
What do you think ?
Re: Do you think that more than 50% of the top level fighters use PEDs?
..I don't have any insider information so I can't come up with any credible number...I do have a feeling though that once they start testing boxers regularly using new methods by the labs located outside of their respective backyards there'll be quite a few unexpected surprises..

Re: Do you think that more than 50% of the top level fighters use PEDs?
No, because the majority of the top-15 world-rated fighters in each weight class don’t earn enough to use them.
I do feel that the biggest earners in this sport use them though. It’s sadly a case of fighters not being tested enough, which I feel is annoying.

The art in drug cheating is being able to mask it. There was no one better than this than Lance Armstrong. Hench why he was at the top of his game for so long.

Yes, and certainly not just top level boxers.
The rewards are just too great and the temptation and pressure to compete on the ones who remain clean must be enormous. 365/24/7 random testing can't happen fast enough.
As EO posted recently, you only have to look at the various Heavyweight top 10 lists.

I don't have a clue. I would like to think not but I'm aware that might be wishful thinking.
Re: Do you think that more than 50% of the top level fighters use PEDs?
Low level fighters are full of PEDS i saw it personally. I just laugh when people here on forum hates top fighters like Canelo, Miller and other fighters who was caught. Everybody cheats, not everybody will get caught
Re: Do you think that more than 50% of the top level fighters use PEDs?
I don't know, it's too hard to tell.
I voted no, because 50% is a bloody lot. You have to have a certain mentality to purposely cheat, and I don't think 50% of the boxing community have that mentality.
One question I will ask, what constitutes the top level? Top 10? Top 30? Top 100?
I don't think Joshua or Wilder are taking, but then perhaps I am naive.

Will this reduce number of expected surprises?
Re: Do you think that more than 50% of the top level fighters use PEDs?
It's an absolute yes from me.
The various pressures to cut weight, increase strength, bulk up or increase stamina allied with the pressure to compete with others who are cheating makes it an epidemic.
The biggest surprise is the big names getting caught. You'd think they could afford the best in-house advice and testing etc.

At some point in their life I'd say more like 95. The UFC is really cracking down while I feel like boxing just catches egregious users.

Mia St. John says they pretty much all do.

Every top professional athlete is on PEDs.

Drugs are all over the place, and the line between legal and illegal supplements is amorphous and ever changing, as in the case of Povetkin who used a perfectly legal supplement sold in health food stores and then they suddenly declared it illegal. It's not only in top level sports it's even in high school sports, and probably in elementary school sports and kiddie league sports too.
A lot of who gets caught, like Miller, and who doesn't depends upon the defensive structure the athletes can afford to build around themselves, the doctors and others advising them how to dope up without getting caught, and the amount of money they can slip into the hands of the Las Vegas NeVADA bag men so that they don't look too hard plus, of course, their "connections"..

You are still blaming the organization that is testing.Ilya Muromets wrote: ↑20 Apr 2019, 11:10 Drugs are all over the place, and the line between legal and illegal supplements is amorphous and ever changing, as in the case of Povetkin who used a perfectly legal supplement sold in health food stores and then they suddenly declared it illegal. And not the fugging drug cheats.
It's maddening listening to you and your conspiracy theories.
Re: Do you think that more than 50% of the top level fighters use PEDs?
at least 50% use something for an edge. I'll even include that most sports pros use/do something. So long as folks think fighter x is using, it becomes necessary in their minds to keep up. Everyone wants an edge. Just look at what happened, and is happening in baseball. Minor leaguer's are being suspended, what seems like, every week.

It is maddening taking you temp. off ignore to look at your stupid posts. They teach them to say "conspiracy theory" when they are confronted by facts that confuse them - as if there are not two or more people behind the scenes in boxing planning, plotting, CONSPIRING! Boxing and everything else!

Re: Do you think that more than 50% of the top level fighters use PEDs?
To be fair. It starts with the fighters using banned substances. They are ultimately to blame. Corruption in boxing is well known, but let's not be naïve and think it doesn't happen everywhere else. Where there is money, there are bad people.Ilya Muromets wrote: ↑20 Apr 2019, 11:22 It is maddening taking you temp. off ignore to look at your moronic babbling. This from a man who claims Miller isn't guilty because he admitted cheating after getting caught red handed

I'm glad you think enough about me that you even bother to place me on ignore.Ilya Muromets wrote: ↑20 Apr 2019, 11:22 It is maddening taking you temp. off ignore to look at your stupid posts. What proof do you have that people are paying off VADA?
Without proof it is a theory

Competition is very high. Their success in life depends upon an edge. Even parents in school think that way about their little kids in the junior league. In boxing there is a sea of fat city blokes going nowhere getting their heads busted up without even medical insurance, but a few top guys make millions. They see everyone else doing it. They know their competition does it. Yeah, they are "ultimately to blame" but it's the whole milieu. They catch one high profile guy, like Miller, and now everyone wants to pretend they are little mister purity and "make an example of him". It's like their bs war on drugs. How many presidents of the USA were known dopers themselves? Three in a row! Clinton's own brother said he had "a nose like a vacuum cleaner" (referring to cocaine). Hypocrisy rules.

Hypocrisy does rule the world. You are 100% correct on that.Ilya Muromets wrote: ↑20 Apr 2019, 11:32 Competition is very high. Their success in life depends upon an edge.
