The perfect next fight for Allen is Shannon The Cannon. Loads of talk pre fight then bombs away.
Re: Round-by-Round: Dave Allen vs. Lucas Browne - 20 April 2019
I would rather see Chisora and Price fight each other.

Defenetely agree with Price but Allen vs Chisora is a obvious mismatch with almost no chances to Allen to win. Delboy still can take punch and much more better boxer than Allen/ Dave vs Chis will be long one-sided mauling which can permanently damage Allen's health. His skills are still a very basic at that level

If only Cedric Kushner were still with us!
Allen could fold an out-of-shape Del with that same shot, but it makes no sense for him to accept. Allen-Price is a crossroads fight, so it has that going for it. If Price loses he should retire. But I'd add the proviso that the winner gets a crack at someone with a belt, because I don't wanna see either of them taking punishment otherwise. They've paid their dues.

When you say crack at someone with a belt I assume you mean a Daniel Dubois Type and the belt being the one holding up his Levi’s?Grilling Machine wrote: ↑20 Apr 2019, 18:32 If only Cedric Kushner were still with us!

Price is beyond finished and Allen is awful!

The only thing I can think of is for the British title, but isn't that being shaped up for a Dubois - Gorman later in the year?

I don't think last night told us anything about Allen that we don't already know. He hasn't got better, or worse, he is what he is.
Browne on the other hand has deteriorated badly and he wasn't great in the first place.
Allen should get himself quite a big fight off this one though.

Re: Round-by-Round: Dave Allen vs. Lucas Browne - 20 April 2019
Allen v Price would be entertaining , wouldn't mind seeing Allen v Gorman if that can be made and then if he wins Allen v Dubois
Re: Round-by-Round: Dave Allen vs. Lucas Browne - 20 April 2019
There does seem to be a massive disconnect between Matchroom and Fwank & Co. which makes me believe it would be far from straight forward.
There's a lot of British level guys out there, whom when matched up would make some fantastic fights, who will never meet in the ring, simply because who they are represented by.
Do you think behind the scenes Hearn and W@rren get on?

Barker could be good for Dave. He was firmly in his comfort zone at Mick Marsdens.

Not at all but they will come together if the money is right.Rob3_142 wrote: ↑21 Apr 2019, 06:13 There does seem to be a massive disconnect between Matchroom and Fwank & Co. which makes me believe it would be far from straight forward.

Allen will never generate the money to do that and Eddie wouldn't supply him as an opponent for Dubois or Gorman.
Re: Round-by-Round: Dave Allen vs. Lucas Browne - 20 April 2019
Well Allen has just headlined at the O2, so there is clearly value in him. I think it would sell vs. Dubois definitely (as in right now), and with a little bit of work would sell vs. Gorman. I mean there's still Chisora and Price in the mix too.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't the BBBoC called Dubois vs. Joyce?
Re: Round-by-Round: Dave Allen vs. Lucas Browne - 20 April 2019
Chisora is a couple of levels above Allen, I have no interest in seeing that fight. I think Allen beats Price rather handily but it’s a good one to make.
Browne needs to retire now, obviously, but still a great scalp for Allen to have on his record.

I'm not saying it has no value, just not enough value. For these two to come together Fury and AJ has proved difficult.Rob3_142 wrote: ↑21 Apr 2019, 06:30 Well Allen has just headlined at the O2, so there is clearly value in him. Also Dubois and Gorman would be hot favourites against Allen and Eddie isn't in the business of supplying opponents unless it's for PPV headliners in Vegas.
Re: Round-by-Round: Dave Allen vs. Lucas Browne - 20 April 2019
You know you have made it when Mick Foley gives you a shout out.
Re: Round-by-Round: Dave Allen vs. Lucas Browne - 20 April 2019
I dunno about that. If a 'big money fight' for the British title against Dubois/Gorman was in the offing for Dave Allen, Hearn would probably be game. It'd probably go to purse bids, and Fwank would probably win it (valuing his fighter more than Hearn values Allen).Coco wrote: ↑21 Apr 2019, 06:40 I'm not saying it has no value, just not enough value. I think there is an element of 'I like Dave Allen, so I am helping him out, but fact of the matter I have much more lucrative fighters to spend my time on'.

Dub's too big and strong for Allen, but I'd expect Gorman to fight up close, so there's maybe a slim chance of Allen landing to the body again.
I think Charr's more beatable, but maybe winning the British would mean more to Allen? What's Hughie doing these days, anyway?

Surprised people think Allen is so far behind chisora Browne although be it he’s old was a decent win and the way he stopped him impressive

Gotta give it to Allen. He’s not been in the biggest fights, Hearn has given him chances and he’s taken them.
He bought his own house and even owns another property now I heard.
He’s done really well for himself.

He did lose to a pretty average Lenroy Thomas and novice Tony Yoka (although he is a prospect).
His #22 ranking on BoxRec is pretty flattering.
Beating a finished Browne has inflated his actual level.

Allen finally had a proper training camp, and while I know he doesn't have much in the skills department, he's young enough to learn some new tricks. I wouldn't write him off just yet.
