x2 on the sentiment I didn't stay up for the fight but I have seen enough from Khan to know what kinda fighter he is!

The following from the Guardian. Reminiscent of Marlon Starling saying "I didn't get knocked out!" after getting knocked out. Khan is in total denial. The reviews this morning are not being kind:
“I would never quit,” Khan says after arriving to the press conference about five minutes after Crawford, his face badly marked up. “I would rather get knocked out. I one of them fights who’d rather get knocked out in fights. I have been knocked out because I’ve tried to win fights–”
“You didn’t quit?” Crawford interrupts. “Tell the truth.”
Khan: “I didn’t quit.”
Crawford: “So what happened?”
Khan: “I’m telling you I’ve never quit.”
Crawford: “What happened?”
Khan: “I was hit with a low shot, man. I was hit with a very low blow.”
Crawford: “In your leg? You quit with a shot in your leg?”
Khan: “In the leg? It was in the balls!”
It devolved from there as Khan spent the next 10 minutes in a defensive crouch over the ending.
“If you guys think I quit, I’ve never quit from a fight,” Khan says. “One hundred percent.

He quitted, that's just f*cking obvious. However, I won't blame him for that, cause the fight was a clear mismatch, it even wasn't necessary to make.
Re: Amir Khan: "I'm a warrior!"
A boxer is allowed 5 minutes to recover from a low blow. Khan chose not to use them and quit.

He was once a warrior for sure. It’s a Shame he quit like this as people have short memories and as the saying goes “you’re only as good as your last fight”.
In the Maidana fight Lampley was actually saying “too much heart from Khan” as he was getting mauled around the ring. Surely it’s the end for him now. Not a great way to bow out but as time passes I’m sure we’ll look back on his career fondly.

Prime Khan would of gone out on his back. This version quit. Fighters age and lose the toughness and heart they would of shown early in their careers, just shows that Khan is right at the end of his career.overhand_right wrote: ↑21 Apr 2019, 05:28 Yeah it was either escape with this "injury" or go out unconscious in a less than a minute.

Re: Amir Khan: "I'm a warrior!"
I disagree, a prime Khan certainly weathered storms like Maidana but it was founded upon a belief he'd win. It's telling Khan had no interest the first time he faced a fighter as fast as he was. With no belief in a path to victory he chucked it. Coward.
Re: Amir Khan: "I'm a warrior!"
silly fight
Respect Khan though
Puts himself right out there for a man who can't hold a shot

Re: Amir Khan: "I'm a warrior!"
Would you say the same things about Benn after his last two fights against Collins?
Re: Amir Khan: "I'm a warrior!"
That wasn't the case with Benn v Collins though.
While Khan didn't exactly cover himself in glory last night, his previous performances have already demonstrated his cojones.
Unfortunately we are seeing another fighter at the end of his career.

Totally agree, Khan told his corner man he didn't want to continue, he can protest all he likes, but he quit.
When was the last time a fighter was unable to continue after a shot to the cup? I can't even remember.
Re: Amir Khan: "I'm a warrior!"
Benn was shot to sh*t by the time he fought Collins, he should have quit after the McClellan fight, in fact I think he did quit after he lost to Malinga but was tempted back for the Collins fights. Fair play to Steve for telling all the dickheads who were booing Benn to shut up.

It's the end of Khan's big time career now, the networks in the US certainly won't want anything to do with him.
I won't call him a coward, as he's proven his bravery enough times, but I do feel he cheated the public and fans.
I would have had more respect for him, if he'd quit between rounds and said "Virgil, I just don't have it any more, I'm calling it a day."
There might be some mileage in a fight with brook, but both men are much diminished, and it's a smaller fight than it would have been 5 years ago in their primes.
For what it's worth, that was an uppercut to the cup, whether it contacted the inner thigh or not, that would have hurt, but when it initally happened, no way did I think that would be the end of the fight, I've seen far worse in a boxing match, and with the levels of adrenalin going through the fighters body's at that stage, the pain wouldn't be that severe, hell I took a pasting to the nuts in a boxing match as a kid, 3 big uppercuts right to my balls, and without a cup, and didn't even register the pain until that evening, when my balls turned completely black from blood and I'm nowhere near as tough as a professional fighter.
Would it have caused discomfort, for sure., but no way a fight ender.

Yeah Benn was never the same post McClellan, his balance was gone, kept falling in with his shots all the time.banjo wrote: ↑21 Apr 2019, 07:28 Benn was shot to sh*t by the time he fought Collins, he should have quit after the McClellan fight, in fact I think he did quit after he lost to Malinga but was tempted back for the Collins fights. Can only remember that South Korean who fought honeyghun losing cos he couldn't continue. A few have had a dq win through not being able to continuejamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑21 Apr 2019, 07:27 Totally agree, Khan told his corner man he didn't want to continue, he can protest all he likes, but he quit.

Khan says in the ring post fight that 5 minutes wouldn't have been enough so they pulled out but on twitter today he's saying he misheardthe question from Virgil, more lies from Khan, I like him and have been a big fan for years but he talks absolute shit and is a massive hypocrite, he even accused Brook of ducking out the fight the other day when all he had to say was he got a better offer elsewhere which was perfectly understandable
I hate calling fighters quitters and always try to give them the benefit but the reality is he quit and nothing will change my mind, at least Brook's face was smashed to bits before folding against Spence
