I Have Crawford over Spence
After watching high lights of Crawford vs Kahn, and most of the Spence vs Garcia fight. I have to favor Crawford over Spence, Crawford's body seems to be filling into Welterweight with excellent power and fluidity.

Not sure you really needed last night's to favor Bud over Spence. But I agree with what you say!victor-romeo wrote: ↑21 Apr 2019, 16:15 After watching high lights of Crawford vs Kahn, and most of the Spence vs Garcia fight. 50 /50 for me, but I think it would be a rare great fight instead of us pretending good fights were great in this weak, weak era.

Re: I Have Crawford over Spence
I've always loved Spence.
He'll batter Crawford downstairs. Take away those wheels.
And Spence is a nice guy. Crawford is just too surly and insecure.
And besides, I get tired of the ESPN crew drooling all the time over its stable of fighters.
Every boxer on its roster is the best on the planet and reminiscent of every ATG rolled into one.
So I'm praying for a Spence win if the fight ever happens.

Re: I Have Crawford over Spence
I think Spence has the power to change things if they fought for sure.
His body work (as mentioned in above posts) could be the deciding factor.
Right now, I give it 55/45 to Crawford and realistically I don't care who wins, as a fan of the sweet science- I just want to see it.

This will be Leonard V Hearns all over again.
A 50/50 fight between two future ATGs, both in their pomp.

I don't think Spence or Crawford, are near prime Leonard or Hearns..I have been watching Leonard , Hearns different old fights, those dudes where off the charts, and the 1st Leonard vs Hearns fights one of the greatest fights I have ever seen.
But I do know what you mean it is the Leonard vs Hearns for our time..

Without fully studying it I attribute it to a decline in US amateur program with lack of Olympic champions as the metric for measuring that program to go along with some other economic and social factors.
Re: I Have Crawford over Spence
I can agree with that. We used to make our (USA) boxing stars beginning with the Olympic team. That ship has sunk and is rusted out.victor-romeo wrote: ↑21 Apr 2019, 17:38 Without fully studying it I attribute it to a decline in US amateur program with lack of Olympic champions as the metric for measuring that program to go along with some other economic and social factors.

I am torn, both are QUALITY!
the recency bias always gets me - in March I was convinced Spence would do a number on Bud, come April I see Bud out smarting him!
Fair to say this a massive PPV I would pay $100 for this

Re: I Have Crawford over Spence
just 'cos spence and bud aren't on the level of leonard-hearns doesn't mean they aren't great fighters! especially considering what bud has achieved at 140 already.
i have to agree with the above poster. this must be the best match up in boxing right now, outside of the heavies.
i somehow favour spence. he seems a little more fluid, more powerful, taller. it would be a great fight though, might be a bit of a chess match.

It should be a great fight. We'll judge them as GOATs when their careers are done.fanman wrote: ↑21 Apr 2019, 18:28 just 'cos spence and bud aren't on the level of leonard-hearns doesn't mean they aren't great fighters! especially considering what bud has achieved at 140 already.

Impossible to have a confident pick. I'd edge toward Bud as I feel he is the more fluid and complete fighter. Spence seems a bit more powerful and durable, though.

May these two fight a 12 round war and burn each other's cities to the ground.

Crawford won't fight Spence Jr. anytime soon. Bob Arum will continue to dishonestly blame Al Haymon for this bout not happening, even though numerous PBC fighters (including Amir Khan) have recently faced Top Rank guys,
To be fair, any potential super-fight between top-tier pound-for-pounders like Crawford and Spence Jr. needs time to marinate,

Crawford is already 31 years old. If he "marinates" too long he'll pickle.

Spot on. The time is now. It could turn into a trilogy.sturm vogel wrote: ↑21 Apr 2019, 21:55 Crawford is already 31 years old. If he "marinates" too long he'll pickle.
Crawford already shows signs of aging, imo. He has lost a bit of quickness and accuracy. Experience makes up for it when fighting Khan and Benavidez level comp. Spence is the top of the food chain at welter. He will make Crawford pay for some of those wild swing and misses.
Bud did not look as sharp as Spence did in his last outing. I think that Mikey would do Khan in late rounds.
Re: I Have Crawford over Spence
garcas much more 1 paced and slower then khan though. totally dfferent styles and attrbutes. .khan pretty much always has moments and is the exact type of fghter who can have success but not go all the way vs top opponents.ironbeard wrote: ↑21 Apr 2019, 22:05 Spot on. even if garca would beat khan h2h imo garcia would be even easier for craw then khan was. just not as physcally talented or athletc as amir even though more sound a boxer. tbh craw to me beat khan no problems...certanly canelo had even more problems then craw had.

I agree. I can't imagine a boxing fan not wanting to see these two compete next week. They're both willing and at the peak of their abilities. May the best man win.ironbeard wrote: ↑21 Apr 2019, 22:05 Spot on. The time is now. It could turn into a trilogy.

I honestly think Khan would land more against Spence than Mikey did, even though he'd get stopped in like 5 rounds
Re: I Have Crawford over Spence
I agree with what you are saying, but Spence had everything to do with how Mikey looked. I am not saying that Garcia would have a chance v Crawford. I do think that Garcia would bomb Khan out late.jamamb wrote: ↑21 Apr 2019, 22:12 garcas much more 1 paced and slower then khan though. totally dfferent styles and attrbutes. .khan pretty much always has moments and is the exact type of fghter who can have success but not go all the way vs top opponents.

You do have a point about Khan being problematic before being KTFO. Nobody has done to Khan what Crawford did; not letting him even get out of the gate ahead (with the exception of Prescott). Khan would have more success v Spence but Errol would flatten him in 5 or less.

Re: I Have Crawford over Spence
This is The Best Matchup in Boxing right now these 2 need to sign ASAP and see who is The Number 1 Welterweight my pick would be Crawford by Close Decision but it could easily be a win for Spence Jr it's a 50-50 matchup and it Could Be A Classic
