TUE transparency is gathering steam - it would be nice to know what our "champions" have exemptions for!

Hearn and AJ talk the ins and outs of a gnats arse but completely dodge any TUE discussions. Says it all really. Clearly he has some. When asked, whereas a simple "no" would do the job, Hearn does the politician trick of flipping it into a bigger discussion without answering the question

As soon as it is mentioned, he goes on to the same old rant about "Anthony is the most tested athlete in the world........this is why VADA is there.......he spends a fortune on tests......he asks for VADA", all of which does not answer if he is taking anything with the TUE meaning it is allowed.

^ this is exactly what I am thinking any time TUE is mentioned he swerves it with with how many agencies (UKAD, VADA etc) are testing him - absolute farce !

I am glad other people here have picked up on this - this can often get lost in translation on these Youtube interviews

Eerily reminiscent of Lance Armstrong's deflection-and-counter strategy. Funnily enough.

To be fair it doesn’t matter - when you see Joshua in the ring I am sure most people think he looks like an asthmatic with low natural testosterone levels

You may well be right, but i'm not aware of there being an abundance of marathon runners suffering with Asthma.

Also, I think some sprint cyclists have been found to use similar Asthma meds to the distance guys.

Same as 100m athletics sprinters using EPO, initially it was thought only distance guys used it , but it was beneficial to the short sprinters too!

Stack some EPO/ test / HGH as a boxer and I reckon you can go from British title level to world level .

I was of the opinion that a few Spanish (or Spanish based ) boxers in particular were using EPO in the past and their improvements were fairly dramatic

Hmmm, along with a few of their footballers / tennis players as well, by any chance? Spanish sport did go through something of a resurgence over the last 10 years or so...

Any fighter getting a TUE should have to agree to more frequent and more intensive drug screening in exchange for the exemption. And at their own cost.

Add in public acknowledgement of why the tue is being given. Then we have a definite winner.

HGH has always seemed a sketchy af substance to use imo. I've read about how if you have cancer and you're unaware of it initially, it makes the tumour/s grow at a rapid speed.

They are finding out new things about HGH on the down side, as more reactions are reported over long term use.

Yeah. I can see why people would wanna use EPO and Test (although even EPO is sketchy af if you don't exercise enough and your blood ends up ridiculously thick and giving you a stroke or a heart attack) but HGH just seems too much of a risk.

I've read where EPO can and does cause death after over use and even in controlled doses. I wonder if they take blood thinners along with it. Such a dangerous path.

It's funny, a few years back. I had a blood test done, and I had to see a specialist because my blood was too thick (although not by a great margin)- it was because I wasn't drinking enough water/fluids generally. Anyway, I can't imagine that to the scale of taking EPO. You'd be worried about having a stroke at any point lol.

LOL! There are also negative effects on autoimmune system; kidneys; embolisms...I can't understand why athletes take such risks. Champ today, gone tomorrow.

Short term gain, long term pain. (or short term pain). It's naturally occurring so levels need to be measured to test for abuse. I've read where its use has increased long distance runner's times by 6%. Imagine?

Whilst most of these PEDs have adverse health effects as discussed above , The guys at the top of tested sports aren’t using vast quantities. They take small doses that deliver results but are hard to detect.

That big guy at your gym will be taking far more peds and probably poorer quality too... and for what ? A lot of risk just to be big but with no real financial gain.

It is a genetic lottery though, we have all heard about that guy who smoked 40 a day and lived until 90 and the other healthy guy who died tragically young. The same is true for PED use.

A number of Soviet and eastern block 1970s and 80s weightlifters and strength sport athletes have died at young ages, no doubt due to being fed anabolics by the team doctors over extended periods of time with little “time off”, as there wasn’t any out of season testing at that time .

As Oogbie says the HGH ( and EPO) usage is relatively new , so it will take a while to see the long term negative impact of these drugs .

Steroids have been around since the 1950s I think and have been used extensively , so the link between heart / liver damage is well documented .
