I remember watching it back when it happened. Holyfield had given one of his better performances in quite a while in his previous bout against Hasim Rahman getting a noteworthy win. This fight marked the beginning of Holyfield slipping into shot fighter land.

He still had his moments in this fight, but it was mostly Byrd being too quick, and too slick for the aging Holyfield.

I had it 117-111 for Byrd if memory serves.

Byrd would have been a difficult opponent for Evander in his prime. Holyfield might have had the best footwork ever as far as being in punching position in the pocket, but cutting off the ring was his weakness.
