Joshua vs. Hunter, a mismatch or not ?
Re: Joshua vs. Hunter, a mismatch or not ?
Interesting enough, the Ortiz camp cited that "the initial offer was too low to enter contract talks." Hmmm...

Ortiz doesn't want VADA testing since he wasn't expecting a fight.

..yeah, can be as simple as that..SenorPipino wrote: ↑23 Apr 2019, 15:55 Ortiz doesn't want VADA testing since he wasn't expecting a fight.

I was saying a replacement will get nowhere near to what Miller was originally going to get.
But you can say easily, whatever anyone is being offered, it will STILL be a career high purse.
Re: Joshua vs. Hunter, a mismatch or not ?
what would u consider a lowball?
did luis have a fight scheduled either? lol a lot of ppl suggesting he couldnt pass vada with such short notice

I can't see why Ortiz wouldn't take a career high purse and go out on his shield. Doesn't make sense to decline the fight if the money is right.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑23 Apr 2019, 16:12 I was saying a replacement will get nowhere near to what Miller was originally going to get.

Re: Joshua vs. Hunter, a mismatch or not ?
...still wondering what this lowball offer might mean? 5 times his career high purse?

Re: Joshua vs. Hunter, a mismatch or not ?
We don't know that. You are insinuating that Ortiz is actually afraid to fight AJ. I guess Wilder and Fury are scared too!?
Re: Joshua vs. Hunter, a mismatch or not ?
lol wut? when did i say hes afraid
honest question, i wonder how much he thinks hed get for a wilder rematch or another fight to be turning down figures like 2 million or so when his career high purse is reported as 500k

Again, we have no idea how much he'd make, nor do we know if a promise was actually made. For all we know, Ortiz may still be posturing on this fight. He's the only one who can make this event worth the ticket price.

I thought it was 6.75 million for some reason.

Re: Joshua vs. Hunter, a mismatch or not ?
Sorry mate it’s less.
From ESPN:
If Miller is dropped from the fight, it will cost him millions. He is due to earn a career-high purse of $4.875 million, not to mention additional money he stands to earn from a percentage of the profits from the fight on Sky Sports Box Office pay-per-view in the United Kingdom. Miller's deal with DAZN calls for two comeback fights worth $1.5 million apiece in the event that he loses to Joshua, which would disappear if there is no fight.
The biggest purse of Miller's career was a little over $500,000 for his fourth-round knockout of Bogdan Dinu on Nov. 17.
So yeh. TBH, the fact that he’s pissed away nearly $5m, he also loses the additional 2 fights with DAZN where he was set to receive a combined $1.5m.. so overall, it is actually over $6m..
Re: Joshua vs. Hunter, a mismatch or not ?
lol dang, miller had a good deal going there
fat boi shouldve just gone natural and taken the money

Re: Joshua vs. Hunter, a mismatch or not ?
Miller was set to get uk money on top of his guarantee
My guess is eddie is full of shit. Hunter is already signed and his "offers" to the others are ludicrously low so he can play a card of "look i tried to get a name opponent bit everyone is scared of joshua" card
On the other hand a 2 time drug cheat is probably also unable to pass a test

An interesting perspective from Boxing Squared was that Hayman is behind the decline so he can hold onto the WBC belt in the PBC family for as long as possible. (I.E. Wilder vs Ortiz). I don't know, but if Ortiz was offered anything north of $3 million, it's just plain stupid.

I always thought it was strange to give applause for someone accepting an undeserved best deal of their life. It takes cojones to be a pro fighter; accepting a career high payday and a shot at every fighters ultimate goal takes a single brain cell.
Re: Joshua vs. Hunter, a mismatch or not ?
Interesting point of view. It takes more to slog fight after fight I agree and actually earn that shot. Yup.punchoutsb wrote: ↑23 Apr 2019, 17:48 I always thought it was strange to give applause for someone accepting an undeserved best deal of their life.
