Miller May Avoid Punishment
Miller May Avoid Punishment
Jarrell Miller may avoid punishment for his three failed drug test on a technicality. Apparently Miller's license with the NYSAC had expired prior to the multiple failures and therefore doesn't come under the commission's jurisdiction.
Because American boxing is state by state, Miller doesn't have to answer to anyone. The boxing sanctioning bodies can still take action. SMH.

Can he fight Joshua now?
Re: Miller May Avoid Punishment
No, he still won't get licensed. The NYSAC can still deny that.

Re: Miller May Avoid Punishment
Other state athletic commissions could withdraw Miller’s license pending Jarrell providing permission to review VADA’s findings.oogiebe wrote: ↑25 Apr 2019, 12:57 Jarrell Miller may avoid punishment for his three failed drug test on a technicality. Of course they’re not obliged to do this, but the public outcry could compel them to do so.
The sports’ governing bodies could also remove him from their rankings, based on their affiliation with VADA.
Miller won’t escape punishment, but he may not get what he deserves.

What would stop him from fighting overseas?
Meanwhile my man Pulev is banned in the USA for kissing a whore!

Re: Miller May Avoid Punishment
So no one will grant Miller a license for a while.
No different then being suspended.
Eventually, sometime next year, some state will license him and all the others will then do likeswise.
He's a bigger name than ever. Expect Joshua to allow Miller another opportunity if he's still champion.
The match will make more money and be more eagerly anticipated than it would have on June 1.

Is he in fact banned from the USA? I didn't hear anybody say anything like that. I know they made a big fuss about it, but I don't think they stripped him of his license or anything like that. At least not that I've heard.Ilya Muromets wrote: ↑25 Apr 2019, 14:12 What would stop him from fighting overseas?

His NY license had expired before the testing so they can't do anything but refuse a license. Same for the other 49 states. Only the sanctioning bodies can do something formal to him. At least those who sanctioned this fight. He will be refused a license for a while I'm sure wherever he goes.

CA banned him - without even bothering with the tedious formality of a hearing. I suppose the other states will also feign politically correct indignation and honor the ban. F 'em! Fight in Europe then.

Re: Miller May Avoid Punishment
To be fair, Pulev was suspended for committing an act he subsequently admitted to, which was also caught on video, that compelled him to issue an apology.
He’ll get his license handed back to him as soon as he appears in front of the commission and promises not to do it again.
It’s a different situation to Miller’s circumstances.
A state athletic commission cannot remove a license from a fighter that doesn’t even possess one, which means he’s not in the realms of their jurisdiction.

Only where there is reciprocity and only if California continues to deny him a license
