An instant answer would be Castillo, he had the better of the 1st fight, and won the 2nd convincingly, but Corralles is counted out at anyone's peril.
Castillo was somewhat cheated in the 1st by Corralles buying vital time spitting his mouthpiece out, and the unfortunate fact that he was held up on the ropes and got counted out, despite absolutely mullering Corralles prior to that point. The rule change they made that it should have been counted as a standing 8 will be in effect this time.

Castillo may have "cheated" last time, but I'm sure he and most Mexicans just see it as payback for Corrales "cheating" the first time.
Not sure Diego needs three such brutal fights so close together - just hope these two are getting very well paid here.
He reminds me of Tommy Hearns with that reach and huge right hand, and Castillo will need to be very careful early on.
I can see Castillo hurt early, but coming through it to blast out Corrales midway, in another X rated war.

I see them meeting head on again – for a tall man, Corrales likes to fight in range and throw short punches. Against a dangerous puncher like Castillo I only see one result – a Castillo knockout.
Corrales may have his moments but I think it'll be more like the second fight than the first.
Plus, I think Castillo has the better whiskers.

Why don't you write the fornicating preview?Ulysses wrote:I see them meeting head on again – for a tall man, Corrales likes to fight in range and throw short punches. Against a dangerous puncher like Castillo I only see one result – a Castillo knockout.

Castillo all the way.
It's all right, Riddick, I know him. Castillo comes to mind instantly, don't see how he can lose this, I'll be rooting for Corrales though, that guy is a true warrior, infact they both are. I hope Corrales tries to outbox this time, and hopefully get his jab working early and keep away from fighting in a phonebooth.
Whatever happens it should be a great spectacle for as long as it last, I'm still buzzing after seeing the 1st fight live!
Castillo late KO.

Corrales may have won the first fight, but I feel it took a lot more out of him than it did Castillo.
IMO, the best chance Corrales has of winning is to use his advantages i.e. height, reach etc, & try to box Castillo from the outside. We all know he will not adopt this approach.
Whatever Corrales does, I figure Castillo will be the superior fighter, scoring a TKO/KO in about 7rounds. Both are warriors and will give their all, but Corrales will not have enough to deal with his opponent.
Look for another left hook to do the damage just like last time out!

corrales set the groundwork for cheating. he blatantly cheated too - he was knocked out just about. if he'd have not had any extra time he would've been a dead man. imo he deserved everything that happened in that 2nd fight. i hope it doesn't result in a dirty rubber match.Terence wrote:Castillo blatantly cheated in fight II and I wonder how likely it is that he will be weak at lightweight. Funnily I can see Corrales boxing at range at first to take some steam off Castillo at the weight. Personally I thought that Casamayor - in rocking Castillo in the final round of their when he stood and traded - showed how to beat Castillo and Corrales underlined it in his own way. Fight II made me think again but Castillo did get off the rack weight wise for that one.
I see the trilogy so far as a macrocosm of fight I with Corrales taking the play from Castillo early with his brain and balls and Castillo then breaking through with his left hook (fight II). On that reckoning I see fight III as the moment in fight I when Diego got off the floor to spank Castillo senseless. So in other words I'm going for Diego, who I love as a fighter, to win by late TKO. Box early, see how Castillo is at the weight, maybe get put down but get back and then take Castillo out.
Whoever wins we, the fans, have been the overall winners from this.
funny thing is with these two, is that corrales does some very good inside work and castillo - in the 2nd - was able to hurt corrales with lead left hooks/right hands from further back; punches that chico didn't see coming. castillo could well be weak at the weight, and corrales looks bad. every pic i've seen since the 2nd fight he's looked drawn, tired, weak, beaten up.
strange thing is that castillo has been the better boxer. he mixes up inside and outside boxing pretty well. against a mayweather or cassamayor he obviously has to cut off the ring and try & grind em down. but with lazcano & julio diaz he surprised those guys with his brutal versatilityRocky Balboa wrote:Corrales may have won the first fight, but I feel it took a lot more out of him than it did Castillo.

corrales is a short armed man who leans forward and prefers the hooks. not many fights where he actually boxed well from the outside, aside from cass 2 where he was almost Ko'd and barely scraped by
castillo will carve up corrales
that's one way of looking at it. another is that castillo made it a non title affair and corrales didn't refuseTerence wrote:I think people are more prepared to give actions taking place in the heat of a fight when a guy is sparked (gumshiled) but letting your foe, who struggles with the weight, drain himself for weeks, plus those final draining days, then not bothering yourself. I'm a fan of Castillo but what he did was wrong and shameful. It was a small difference but tell that to a fighter who is shitting, sweating and rubbing the weight out of themselves. It was premeditated and wrong.
Corrales may still feel Castillo cannot beat him. It will be interesting and thank fook it is live.

As a Mexican that's exactly what I feel. Anyway, like many of you I believe Corrales will make the mistake of trying to go toe to toe with Castillo which will ultimately end in him getting caught by a left hook again or a right hand. (I believe Castillo will use his right hand to suprise Corrales a bit.) Unless the weight issue affects Castillo, I believe he wins this by KO much like the second fight. Like someone mentioned I too believe the fights took more out of Corrales than Castillo. It took me awhile to respect Corrales again, but I did after he gave Castillo full credit for the second fight. I believe the whole weight thing is just a bit of media hype to try to get bad blood going. Most rivalry's have two warriors who dislike each other this one has two warriors who respect each other.MightyWarrior wrote:Castillo may have "cheated" last time, but I'm sure he and most Mexicans just see it as payback for Corrales "cheating" the first time.

Well, Corralles could stick and move, and occasionally plant his feet, rather than just standing toe to toe with a guy who hits harder and is naturally stronger. I'm not suggesting he tries to turn himself into Willie Pepp, because obviously Castillo is much more of a pressure fighter than Cassamayor.
