Ruiz is with PBC also. If the deal is right, they can fight.

Mid cycle was my immediate thoughts before and I've never wavered from that. Even if Haymon was pulling his illuminati puppet master strings and was blocking the fight to sink DAZN, the wrinkly old Cuban is bound to be on the gear with no fight coming up and would pop anyway.

I know drugs are infused into boxing but these last two weeks has opened my eyes - Ortiz, Kownacki all giving these lame excuses to mask the drug use!
Re: Jarell Miller stand-in: who would you prefer?
Heavyweight boxing is a joke and the fans are totally confused about what's right and wrong now.
Joshua is at the top of the tree and can pick and choose the dates he fights, does his out of competition 'training' on a Spanish island out of sight so is unlikely to fail any tests when in competition.
Miller takes the fight at good notice and he and his team must be clueless before they failed multiple tests.
Other guys turn down good money to fight at short notice and people assume (possibly correctly) that they are juicing out of competition.
Who gets the hardest time and the most vitriol ? The guys who turn down the fight at short notice. It's all f***ed up.

ya, its f@cked up that a guy like ortiz is getting flack when his side rejected $7-8m. or that as someone who failed tests for 2 fights ppl wud be questioning him in that respect

Re: Jarell Miller stand-in: who would you prefer?
Ruiz does make a fair bit of sense, style wise he is the most similar to Miller, so none of Joshua's recent sparring would have been in vain.
To switch to a southpaw (Ortiz) or a smaller speedier guy (Hunter) could have put Joshua at a slight disadvantage. Just look at how underwhelming he was vs Takam.
Maybe Eddie knows Ortiz won't/can't take the fight and all his bluster is to take the sting out of the backlash once he announces the less highly regarded Ruiz as the opponent.
As a Mexican Ruiz would at least add some ticket sales had the fight been in California or Texas. But I'm not sure that would be the case in New York, I imagine the American posters would know whether this is the case or not.

God forbid Joshua might be at a slight advantage in one element when he has all the other advantages.
Just because he has the belt it's OK for him to turn down opponents but other fighters get slated for turning down the fight at short notice.
The heavyweight division is making a good job of killing itself at the moment

A side calls the shots, it's the way it's always been, in every division.ewenhay wrote: ↑26 Apr 2019, 18:36 God forbid Joshua might be at a slight advantage in one element when he has all the other advantages.

If a big promoter has the means to give his money maker every possible advantage, then why wouldn't he?

There is still a very large Mexican population in New York City.keirw wrote: ↑26 Apr 2019, 18:28 Ruiz does make a fair bit of sense, style wise he is the most similar to Miller, so none of Joshua's recent sparring would have been in vain.

Ruiz can sell a few tickets there for sure
Re: Jarell Miller stand-in: who would you prefer?
No one knows who he is. Just because he's Mexican American on its own won't help.tiny_acres wrote: ↑26 Apr 2019, 18:46 There is still a very large Mexican population in New York City.

They are very loyal, but first they need to know who the guy is. It won't help sell in NYC.

While NYC has a large Hispanic population, I don't think they are mostly Mexican. If they work out things with Ortiz, those 5000 seats will get filled way faster.tiny_acres wrote: ↑26 Apr 2019, 20:36 5000 seats left for the fight.
I bet if Ruiz is signed the majority of those 5000 tickets are Mexicans

Re: Jarell Miller stand-in: who would you prefer?
No argument that Ortiz is a bigger fight.
It's the one the majority on here want.
I'm just stating Ruiz would help sell to the Mexican fans being that he is a former Mexican olympian

I guess it's possible.tiny_acres wrote: ↑26 Apr 2019, 20:43 No argument that Ortiz is a bigger fight.

Re: Jarell Miller stand-in: who would you prefer?
Ive just listened to a little interview with Hearn, maybe he let slip about AJ facing Ruiz next????
Re: Jarell Miller stand-in: who would you prefer?
Ruiz is a joke how the fornicate is that ppv. Michael Hunter would have been better than him. If this is true I hope Ruiz catches AJ with a lucky one because it’s becoming ridiculous
