Promoter Eddie Hearn says Ruiz will "do anything" to become world champion.
The bloke's never even gotten in shape. This is embarrassing.

Re: Ruiz? Seriously?
Ortiz would have been the most legitimate opponent, but at least Ruiz doesn't sound as boring as some of the other names that were bandied about.
Why do so many Spanish names end in Z?

Re: Ruiz? Seriously?
At that late stage, I don't think there was anyone better who would have taken the fight.
Yes, Ortiz has been mentioned a lot, but I don't believe that he nor his team ever seriously wanted this fight under such circumstances.
Ortiz is thought of as one of the best guys not holding a trinket or mythical title; he just isn't the kind of guy who is late replacement fodder.

Didn't Ortiz have 7 weeks to prepare for Wilder though, from announcement to fight date?Syntax Error wrote: ↑01 May 2019, 00:48 At that late stage, I don't think there was anyone better who would have taken the fight.

And it was something like 6 weeks before fight date that Miller tested positive

He had more than that. Fight announcement isn't when they find out. Wilder was nose to nose with him at least 10 weeks prior.
Re: Ruiz? Seriously?
Rolling over takes considerable effort in his case.tiny_acres wrote: ↑01 May 2019, 08:22 For such short notice he is a very acceptable opponent. Yes he will lose. But he will give it his all and not roll over.
