Stupid question.
Will all of the drugs be out of Miller's system in 6 months.
I know when Povetkin tested positive for a newly banned drug they said it was residual from when it was legal.
So would the huge amounts we are told that Miller took be out of his system in 6 months?

You can probably find out the "half life" of each of those substances and calculate it for yourself. I have no idea.

Or even other sports. Many suspensions but not many banishments. Money rules.

Frustrated fans have taken to social media to call for a blanket boycott of the World Boxing Association and a partial one for Jarrell Miller following actions failed drug tests.

News that the WBA has issued a six-month ban, the usual amount of time any top heavyweight spends out of the ring anyway during fights, has been met with disbelief.

Once again, President Gilberto Mendoza has come under fire. His continued disregard of what’s in the best interests of the sport is simply dumbfounding.

Mendoza told World Boxing News in February 2013 he would do all he can to reduce the number of world title belts in his organization.

The WBA had introduced the ‘regular’ title a few years prior. An extra strap boxing didn’t want, need or ask for. Fast forward four years, and Mendoza began tentative steps to at least unify the heavyweight division.

After several failed fights, Mendoza completely gave up. Then, just as punters were unsuspecting, the WBA brought in their ‘gold’ title belt in 2019.

One fan said: “Maybe if championships don’t back their belts. Boycott fights, maybe the WBA would be forced into action. Until then these cheats will carry on.”

Others added: “WBA and Gilberto Mendoza, you and your organization are a disgrace to boxing #BoycottWBA!” and “Escaped with a loophole. The WBA are a disgrace. Promoters and fighters should boycott Jarrel Miller.”

It’s now down to VADA to do what’s right and order a two-year minimum suspension for Miller. Six months is not going to put a dent in Miller’s career and will certainly won’t deter any other fighter from doing the same in the future.

Hopefully, sense will eventually prevail. Or at least steps will finally be taken to put together an independent panel who can dish out REAL punishments.
The WBAs is just plain doing this for the PR, getting that vibe...

I'm OK with 6 months. I don't trust the drug testers. I think a lot more athletes mess with different performance enhancers, legal, illegal, and in between, but they don't look so hard at the ones with the right connections and nice donations to the Las Vegas Orphans & Retired Wise Guys Benevolent Fund.

Well I didnt want to see him nailed to a cross but this is just farcical. l thought a two year ban would be fair.

I'm delighted to say I know sweet FA about drugs, but what I would like to know is "when his system is entirely free of any banned substance, will he be just like any fighter who has always been clean (ok, any two fighters that have always been clean) or will he still get physical benefits from the fact that he has taken a lot of PEDs in the past?"

If anybody ever needed (surely not) confirmation that the WBA are a bunch of kunts led by an almighty one then this must be proof beyond doubt

Ped benefits don't go away overnight. Something like epo creates more oxygen so those benefits are short term. Hgh lasts years. The wba is making Miller submit to voluntary random testing.

That's something I suppose but if he's still reaping the benefit of HGH even once he's clean, it's not going to dissuade boxers from cheating ... 6 months ffs. That's not even the boxing equivalent of a one match ban

He also lost millions by not fighting AJ, maybe that was a consideration. I'm not defending it, just trying to reconcile it.

Yeh that's true..

His return bout, whenever it will be, be likely pay him less than $500k anyway.

I hadn't forgotten but that shouldn't be a consideration in deciding his punishment. Now we're stuck with AJ vs Ruiz. There are fights I'd like to see Ruiz in, top of the list Ruiz vs Kownacki but Joshua isn't one of them.

Peds ran rampant in a sport with people throwing and hitting a ball. Always mystified me that fans of a sport where they fist fight for a living pegged anyone for clean.

Yup, it's just a game of hide and seek. Balco proved that you just have to stay ahead of the testing.

This sport is amazing. You'd think Mauricio and his colleagues would act swiftly and savagely to bolster up any remaining credibility boxing has left.

Even the staid conservative BBC team of Bunce and Costello are now wondering about the state of heavyweight boxing. The lack of short notice replacements for Miller has raised further doubts.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/48102370

Maybe those PED conspiracy theorists were right all along. Perhaps this is just the visible tip of the problem the sport is facing? Almost everyone now accepts that wiping out PED use in athletics, cycling and tennis is beyond the powers of the governing bodies.

Could get even worse. What's the chance of any 'journalist' asking Hearn or AJ about his PED therapeutic use exemptions that Dillian Whyte has recently mentioned a few times?

Hmm, on second thoughts, maybe this isn't the right time to go there.

Did you wake up from your ("zzzzz") nap now? You think it's "unreal" that they set up Povetkin on behalf of Wilder's deep pocket handlers? Did your mommy read you nice fairy tales before your nap time? Maybe someday she will take you to Las Vegas and you can meet the nice people who run the drug testing business. Maybe they can test you and see if your milk is spiked. After that you can put your allowance money in a slot machine and win a few million dollars!
