I still think that Golovkin injured his right arm (or hand or shoulder) at the beginning of the Jacobs fight, possibly on top of accumulated career damage. He threw very few right hands after dropping Jacobs.

Hopefully, we will know after he retires.

Very weak. The fact is Golovkin was thought of as a killer at the time he faced DJ and favored to ko him. My qualm is with using Sergio dropping him as a guage of how DJ will fare against a more powerful guy. That theory was squashed once he faced Golovkin. Sure, Canelo may stop DJ. But the example given is invalid.

Suspicions are invalid as well.

It's the best I can come up with on short notice.

But you may notice that when Golovkin faces the best, no knockouts surface.

Probably more than a coincidence. Suspicious.

But I have a hunch that Rolls will look like Martiroysan all over again.

..no, I failed to notice that, what I noticed though is that some "much more multi-dimensional" 28 year-old dopers desperately need the help of judges to win against 36+ boxers.."probably more than a coincidence. Suspicious."

SenorPipino wrote: 01 May 2019, 12:03 So what? Golovkin's vaunted power mysteriously disappears when he's forced to face a higher level of talent.

All that "monster power" turns to myth.

Canelo is a much more multi-dimensional fighter than Golovkin. He'll show Jacobs looks that he never had to worry about with Golovkin.

After a few rounds, Jacobs pretty much knew what to expect from Golovkin. Been there, done that.

He won't ever be certain what to expect from the constantly adapting Canelo.

And that's when Jacobs will be most vulnerable to a knockout.

Knockout aren't necessarily the private domain of the harder hitter. It's the fighter with the bigger tool box who finds the greatest success.
Is this the same Golovkin and Alvarez who fought 24 rounds and could barely be split?

But all of a sudden Alvarez is on another level to Golovkin?

And once again the same comparison could be made with Alvarez. A fair number of his elite fights have gone to points.

Canelo wins with constant calm, sharp action, and great confidence. He knows how to keep himself and often does exactly what he needs to win. In this fight, he is a clear favorite. But always waiting for a fascinating and interesting, unexpected battle.

Yep, 35-36 y.o. Golovkin won at least 14 rounds out of 24, but Alvarez is on another level.

There's certainly a shadow hanging over this for all too obvious reasons. Is anyone else, apart from the Cinco de Mayo revellers, getting excited?

Maybe next year they can get David Lemieux in as an honorary Frenchman.

Thankfully there's plenty of action coming up in the next few weeks. Almost a who's who of boxing in action to hopefully get going what has been a very slow start to the year.

I agree with Ramirez. I think Danny should fight like Lara, just with more power in his counter punches.

Of course that will only give him a win on our cards, while judges will have it for Cheatnelo.

Canelo is a fuckin wrecking machine, Jacobs is massively overrated and got hit easy in his last 2 fights vs rather unspectacular eastern europeans. Canelo will ice him worse than Pirog did.

I wouldn't call Jacobs massively overrated.

Not many feel that he's elite.

Just a solid, world class fighter. His cancer backstory has helped place him on a bit of a pedestal that he might not deserve.

But you're correct. Canelo will ice him. Primed and ready to destroy.

I'm betting canelo by ko and hot rod this weekend. I agree Jacobs is overrated and has looked poor since GGG. That will be magnified by how easily andrade handles sulecki.

Sulecki was on queer street vs Rosado. Jacobs last fight was hugely enjoyable but it was rock'em sock'em stuff. Fights like that vs Canelo and it's lights out. He is rangey though so he may try to emulate outside tactics that Trout & Lara employed vs Canelo - but i think there's a warrior in Jacobs and when he trades i think he gets flattened. I'm expecting Canelo to have much faster hands.

There's also the "GGG couldn't stop this guy" apple dangling in front of Canelo to get the KO.

All in all the value on Canelo to get the stoppage is just too good to turn down. I'd probably back it even money, so big on the 4x.

Hes rangy, but hes not slick. Alvarez is much faster, he's going to kill his body. I've been a GGG guy since ouma and always cheer against canelo. But Alvarez is underrated around here, probably mostly because ggg did win that first fight, canelo is the bigger puncher of the two IMO.

Possibly, i think GGG is a bit more brut force but Canelo is much sharper shooter. I agree about Canelo being underrated too. I thought G won the first fight clearly but I had Canelo winning the rematch pretty handily, being the first man to back-up Golovkin in what was the best win in this sport since JMM-Pac 4.

Canelo since the first G fight imo has went on to reach an ATG level of fighter (although the juice probably helped a fair deal).

Golovkin just decided to disprove Canelo's team saying that he is a one trick pony. He outboxed Canelo. Not once he had his back on the ropes. Nobody was backing him. He was just executing a different plan.
