Rematch was one sided beating. I think this one will be similar. Only chance for Vargas is lucky punch. Berchelt will walk him down and get stoppage inside 5 rounds IMO :box: :box: :box:
Generally I agree. But I guess, Vargas will be able to continue until the 8th or the 9th.

Miguel Berchelt and Francisco Vargas made weight for the super featherweight title fight rematch, which airs live from Tucson Convention Center in Tucson, Ariz. (Saturday, ESPN, 10:00pm ET/7:00pm PT and local time).

Berchelt (35-1, 31KOs) weighed 130 on the nose for the fifth defense of the 130-pound title he violently snatched from Vargas more than two years ago. The streaking Mexican slugger—who has won his last 14 starts—weighed 129¾ pounds on that Jan. 2017 night, where he rallied for an 11th round stoppage to ignite his current reign.

Vargas has a lot of heart. Witness his classic comeback against Miura.

He'll probably get stopped again, but I have no problem with a warrior like Vargas getting another opportunity.

He won't go out like Austin did.

Tucson’s Emmanuel Guajardo had to dig deep to preserve his unbeaten record, managing a four-round majority decision over Jonathan Espino in their super welterweight contest. An even tally of 38-38 was overruled by scores of 39-37 and 40-36 in favor of Guajardo.

Colombia’s Miguel Marriaga (28-3, 24KOs) continues to prove it takes a world-class level talent to get the best of him. That never stopped countryman and late replacement Ruben Cervera from fighting his heart out until being forced to quit on his stool prior to the start of the fourth round of their modified lightweight contest.

Both fighters hit the deck, but with Marriaga getting the best of the action in their brief affair. The Colombian slugger—whose three losses have all come in featherweight title fights with Nicholas Walters, Vasiliy Lomachenko and Oscar Valdez—scored a pair of knockdowns in round two, both coming courtesy of left hooks to the liver.

My opinion about this fight i s not original: Berchelt KO/TKO. Cann't imagine Vargas returns into9 pre-Salido mode and give his scary oppenent a good resistance

Fazliddin Gaibnazarov’s first 10-round fight didn’t at all go as expected.

The two-time Olympian from Uzbekistan—who claimed Olympic Gold in 2016—suffered the first defeat of his pro career, dropping a 10-round decision to rail-thin super lightweight Mykal Fox. Scores were 96-92 (twice) and 95-93 in favor of Fox in their ESPN+-streamed battle Saturday evening at Tucson Convention Center in Tucson,

Gaibnazarov (7-1, 4KOs) was issued a point deduction in rounds six and seven for excessive holding, although even without the infraction was still on course to lose a majority decision.

Fox (20-1, 5KOs) rebounds from the first loss of his career earlier this year, with his massive 9” height advantage properly utilized in minimizing Gaibnazarov’s punching power.

An outcome was predictable. Vargas wasn't a fighter to change somehow and to surprise Berchelt.

Just watched it. Pointless fight for both men. Vargas was taking savage beating from bigger, stronger, tougher man and better and faster boxer. Not a close fight or war as media trying to promote. Taking 250 power punches in 6 rounds is not good for your health.Berchelt vs Lomachenko is something world wanna to see :box: :box: :box:

Good for Vargas going out on his shield, guy was taking like 40% of shots by Berchelt and would have ended like the first chapter

An absolute incredible offensive performance by Miguel Berchelt, who threw 728 punches in six rounds (121 per round) and landed 293 (49 per round). Berchelt landed 45% of his power punches.

Francisco Vargas put up excellent numbers as well, landing an avg. of 24 of 79 per round.

This was a terrible waste of time, as was the other rematch on the card.

Berchelt/Davis would make sense and be a great fight, so naturally it won't happen.

I don't see Berchelt having the mobility to deal effectively with Lomachenko.

He's extraordinarily busy. But that won't matter much if Lomachenko isn't standing right in front of Berchelt waiting to get hit as Vargas was.

I'd prefer to see Berchelt unify at 130. A matchup with Davis would be a thriller. But unlikely to happen.

Vargas landed a lot of punches in this fight. Some don’t land that many in 2 fights.

Then you Berchelt, who doubled Vargas’ figures.

Berchelt-Vargas Rematch Peaked At 1,099,000 Viewers

The Miguel Berchelt-Francisco Vargas rematch drew a peak audience of over one million Saturday night.

Nielsen Media Research revealed that ESPN’s broadcast of Berchelt’s technical-knockout victory over Vargas peaked at 1,099,000 viewers. Berchelt basically battered a faded Vargas until Vargas’ trainer, Joel Diaz, instructed referee Jay Nady to stop their scheduled 12-round, 130-pound title fight following the fifth round.

The Berchelt-Vargas doubleheader, which also included a 122-pound championship rematch between Emanuel Navarrete and Isaac Dogboe, attracted an average viewership of 740,000.

The start of ESPN’s 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT telecast Saturday aired at the same time as a “FOX on PBC” main event between Julian Williams and Jarrett Hurd.
