Looks like they not even using the full arena.. Only half. Guessing they looking at a 7k capacity..

FW doesn't think Josh can sell out 13,500 in his own home?

That is the full arena. It's designed like that. It'll have close to a full house in there on the night for what is a decent fight, and which will see many Twitter links to IFL interviews etc. provided by you of course.

I actually liked Galahad coming through and I hope he does a good account of himself. Prior to the Frampton fight I would have given Galahad a decent shout against both Frampton and Warrington - but my Warrington looked so much stronger than Frampton and I think he will be way too strong for Galahad. I do think Galahad knows this as I just don't like his body language in the pressers - he is trying too hard not to look intimidated. His intense stares at the pictures, show to me a guy who feels he needs every little edge to be competitive.

I think this has banana skin written all over it. Warrington is coming off two great wins against some good names, however there is a lot of questions about just what Selby and Frampton had in the tank in those fights.

Warrington has to get up for this one because Galahad is at his peak, and is not going to get clubbed around like Frampton was.

On saying that I do think Warrington's size advantage will see him through to a points win, but won't be surprised if it is a very close one.

Because it’s slightly bigger than the arena!

I am aware of that, but Warrington could fill it, especially against a fellow Brit.

Ahh.. Just checked. Didnt even realise. Can't tell when watching on TV.

I always thought it was a normal standard arena and not like Radio City Music Hall.

Looks like nothing booked for the Saturday. Sunday there are 3 Father's Day Events. But not like they're using the pitch for that.

They probably charge £5k to £10k to hire the pitch out for the night.

Warrington is a 12 round fighter. He does have power, but mostly to gain respect from his opponents. He isn’t really a finisher, so he has to rely on judges more or less every time he fights. So you can tell he works extra hard in that ring to make sure he wins the rounds.

indeed, one thing I learned very quickly was not to judge power based of the % shown on boxrec - josh carries more pop than the 21% suggests he visibly stunned both selby and frampton

Zelfa Barrett and Lyon Woodstock will battle for the vacant Commonwealth title in Leeds

https://www.ringnews24.com/2019/05/14/z ... -in-leeds/

Explosive super featherweights Zelfa Barrett and Lyon Woodstock will fight for the vacant Commonwealth title at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on June 15.

The fight represents a third big domestic showdown to be scheduled for a huge night of boxing topped by Josh Warrington making a second defence of his IBF world featherweight title against Sheffield’s Kid Galahad, with JJ Metcalf and Jason Welborn also set to fight for the Commonwealth title at super welterweight.

A match-up between Barrett and Woodstock has been much anticipated since the pair burst onto the professional scene and earned recognition for their exploits that saw them cross over from prospects to contenders.

“It’s been a long time coming, this fight,” said Barrett 21-1 (13KOs) on confirmation of the highly-anticipated encounter. “People have mentioned mine and Woodstock’s name for a while now, since we both turned pro and because we’re with allegedly.

“I think it was just a case of being the right time and the time is now. We’ve both been considered as hot prospects and it is a big fight that luckily is on the Josh Warrington undercard, but there is no doubt this could have been a main event fight on its own.

“It is going to be an amazing show for domestic dust-ups, what with Josh v Galahad and Metcalf v Welborn being a really good clash of styles. It is a top card.

“I believe in myself, I believe in my style and I believe in everything I do, so I believe 100 per cent that I have the beating of Woodstock, while he will believe in himself and his style, which is why he has taken the fight.

“My style will beat his, but I do rate him and he is a good fighter who does things well. He is an aggressive fighter coming forward, he can box a bit, has got a bit of power and is a respectable opponent.

“I need this kind of fight to bring the best out in me.”

Woodstock, 12-1 (5KOs), claims the confrontation will be like just another day in the office for him.

“I just see it as another fight, it is no stress or big deal, although it is a fight people have been wanting,” considered the 25-year-old known as ‘The King’. “For me it is just another body, but I won’t overlook the situation and I won’t be fazed.

“I will just go in there and do what I do. Every fight excites me, whether I am in with a journeyman or a good opponent, I just love fighting and I know I will finish where I am supposed to finish.

“This is just a stepping stone towards there, which will be a world title. There will be no loser really and it is better to have these fights now because it will hold you in good stead for later on at world level.

“It will not be the end of anyone and it would ruin anybody’s career.

“I just know I will do what I’ve gotta do to pick up the W. I know what I am going in there to do and it is going to be a good fight on the night, that’s what I know. I am not apprehensive or anything, it is just a fight.”

Promoter allegedly added: “This is the sort of fight the fans want to see and we are delivering them. Where domestic showdowns are concerned, it does not get much better than we have got in Leeds with a Yorkshire derby for a world title as a main event, supported by two Commonwealth title fights involving British fighters.

“Zelfa and Lyon are both top super featherweights who have been tipped for the top. They have both suffered a setback, but that is always irrelevant in the grand scheme of things and they will be stronger for the experience.

“We’ve got the best group of super featherweights on our books and our intention is for them all to fight each other with meaningful titles at stake that will push the winners towards world title contention.

“We have already had Lyon against Archie Sharp in an excellent fight and now he will take on Zelfa in a fight that will catch the imagination of the fans. We’ve also got the British champion Sam Bowen who will consider himself top of the pecking order right now.

“This card is shaping up to becoming one of the best of the year and Leeds is definitely the place to be on June 15.”

Josh Warrington tops the bill at First Direct Arena, Leeds when he defends his IBF featherweight championship against Kid Galahad on Saturday June 15.

Jason Welborn and JJ Metcalf meet for the vacant Commonwealth super-welterweight championship.

Other fighters confirmed in action on the bill so far include Lyndon Arthur, Zelfa Barrett, Alex Dickinson, Tommy Fury, Mark Heffron, Jack McGann and Troy Williamson.

Tickets for Warrington v Galahad are available via Ticketmaster and are priced as below:

Kid Galahad Takes To Social Media To Taunt Josh Warrington

KID GALAHAD has taken to social media to taunt his rival Josh Warrington after Warrington's beloved Leeds United were defeated by Derby County last night in the Play-Off semi final.

Galahad, 26-0, posted a picture on his official twitter page of LUFC star Stuart Dallas laying on the ground in disappointment after losing the game and captioned it with a 'look' emoji, highlighting the heartbreaking loss for Leeds United and no doubt for Josh Warrington.

Team Galahad: Warrington Beat Past Prime Frampton, Selby

Doninic Ingle has accused Josh Warrington of beating Carl Frampton and Lee Selby when the pair were on the slide.

Warrington is the favourite to retain his crown in his backyard, but Ingle insists that the champion will be shocked by his Sheffield rival.

Ingle said: “Warrington has had success with Frampton and Selby by jumping on them full steam ahead and they have been unable to keep him off.

“Maybe that is down to Selby and Frampton being past the sell-by date.

“I think Galahad has got more ambition than Selby and Frampton. Those results complimented Warrington.

“What he has with Galahad is a kid who is unbeaten, fresh, and fought himself into the mandatory position by going over to Boston and beating Toka Kahn Clary.

“Josh beat up a washed up Dennis Ceylan in his final eliminator, we went into someone’s back yard and won it.

“Galahad is very controlled and precise. The accuracy will keep Warrington off. He can’t keep walking into those type of shots and that is basically what Warrington is going to do.

“He is going to box the same way he has always had success at and hope for the best.

“But, for once he is getting someone who is fitter than him, fresher than him who can box and slow that pace down.”

in my humble opinion...

Warrington cant stop Galahad, therefore we are left with Warrington points, Galahad points or Galahad KO.

I think the Galahad KO is unlikely although 'kid' bangs harder than Warrington. So its a 12 rounder I feel...

Warrington wont be fitter than Galahad, there is certainly no one at the Ingle gym that is. So its all about the judges......will they go for Warringtons relentless walking forward style...?

Or will they go for Galahads more educated precision, better power and slick work?

When has Galahad fought a 12 round fight at the intensity and pace that Warrington showed against Selby and Frampton?

That's not me being snide btw, I genuinely haven't watched that much of Kid - but Josh's work rate and punch output is crazy, and he's shown he can do it at the very top level over consecutive world class opponents in high pressure events/fights - i'll be impressed if Galahad can match him in that respect

Warrington will win handily.

Galahad has the style to make it awkward for a round or two, but Warrington will walk through his punches, walk him down and land combo after combo.

It will be relentless from Warrington, Galahad will have moments, but will be bullied and pummelled round after round.

Not sure either man has the power to KO the other cleanly, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Galahad quitting claiming Injury some time in the second half.

I don't see a wide decision.. I see scorecards along 115-113 to 117-111

I don't agree with Dom saying Selby and Frampton were past their best. You could say Selby wasn't fit for the weight anymore, but Frampton had no excuses. Was a 50-50 fight and the better man won.

Galahad is going into his first world title shot, he's going to be really hungry and go for it. He and his team believe he won't get another opportunity again. He will make it tough for Warrington.

Not a prime peak Frampton, but I do think Frampton can Warrington.

Just because you lose, doesn't mean you're not in your peak anymore. Any one can have a bad day at the office, doesn't mean you're still not in you're peak.

I would say Frampton is exiting his peak, but not declined completely, or a 'shot' fighter.
