I'm told that Fury is going to be in a lot better shape than he was against Wilder. Not that he'll need it against Thomas Schwarz. This Lineal title is really easy. No mandatory. No sanctioning fees. Defend against whoever you want, including Germany's fourth best heavyweight.

Then again it makes sense in selling Fury to the german market(might be a unknown to US-fanbase and the UK). When Schwartz is in the top 5 or something in the WBO it gives him also a shot at Jousha.
Going with it all makes moneysense in that way.
And given an unknown in between big fights is pretty standard.

What a shame for boxing fans who are/were willing to pay for the top 3 fighting each other.
I remember after the AJ-Wlad fight. Everything was looking up. Wilder was there. Fury was on a comeback getting back in shape slowly. That was 2017. You’d think we’d see the fights 2 years later.
Now 2 years later, there is literally no progress. All signed with different networks. Saying the fights could now happen in 2020. What a shame.

Finkel says 2020 for the Wilder fight, because Ortiz is next on the dance card. By then, AJ's IBF mandatory with Pulev will be due. If AJ fights Whyte later this year, then hopefully that is classed as his WBO mandatory.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑02 May 2019, 06:03 What a shame for boxing fans who are/were willing to pay for the top 3 fighting each other.

Who Fury is going to fill his dance card up with is a mystery, if he is boxing in the USA. Take out the PBC and Hearn boxers and the guys with ties to Eddie and it's slim pickings. .

Fury will make his debut on ESPN after signing a co-promotional deal with Top Rank and the 30-year-old confirmed he would fight again at the end of September, but did not say who the opponent would be.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑02 May 2019, 06:29 Finkel says 2020 for the Wilder fight, because Ortiz is next on the dance card. ‘I’m going to have a few week off and then it’s back to work again because I have another fight 28th of September,’ Fury told BT Sport.
‘I’ve been given dates and that’s the next date. For the next six months I’m going to be active, I’ve got three dates.’
But Fury dismissed this plan and said he took no notice of rankings.
‘I’m very unconcerned with rankings. Tom Schwarz is ranked above me. The rankings to me are unimportant,’ he said.
‘I’m the lineal champion. I’ve got the status going back 100 years. The belt don’t mean nothing to me. As for the mandatory, I’d never box any of these men as their mandatory, not interested at all.
‘I’m above all that. The Gypsy King fights who he wants, when he wants. People say do you think these top three will fight each other?
‘Do they not remember when I went to America and beat Deontay Wilder only a few months ago? The top two did fight each other.
‘I’ve proved time and time again I can go anywhere and beat anyone. I don’t need to prove anything to anyone.’

Fighters always claim that they're going to be in the best shape of their lives for any upcoming bout.keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑02 May 2019, 03:38 I'm told that Fury is going to be in a lot better shape than he was against Wilder. Common sense dictates that Fury will NOT be in better condition for the dreaded Schwarz than he was for Wilder.
He was the underdog versus Wilder. Fury is a 50-1 favorite over Schwarz. So who would you likely work harder for?
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Tom Schwarz - June 15, 2019
shape can be a cumulative thing too though, if hes kept working hard its possible hes in better shape here, remember the state he was in not long before his comeback and even in his first fight back

My source says he already has a lot less fat than he did for the Wilder fight.SenorPipino wrote: ↑02 May 2019, 17:02 Fighters always claim that they're going to be in the best shape of their lives for any upcoming bout.

Too much at HW. There are some interesting weigh-ins for me. Like Wilder's weight, especially as it's come down 10 lbs over his last several fights. I'm very curious as to what he'll come in at. Outside of that, I don't give a f'k.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑02 May 2019, 17:33 People always look at the weigh ins very carefully don’t they?
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Tom Schwarz - June 15, 2019
I like HW weigh-ins because it adds historical perspective.
Is Tom Schwartz a worse defense than Axel Schulz?

You beat me to it.
I was wondering "defense of what?"
Does Fury own any belts that the rest of us have overlooked?
And Shultz turned out to be almost more than Foreman could chew.

Shultz and savarese beat George and then Briggs robbed him. If the high and mighty lineal was worth more than a bus pass shit decisions would be ignored.

I get he never lost and that it realy doesnt matter but he was inactive for 2 and a half years and didnt fight a top guy until 3 years after.
Not saying he should have or anything like that but people talk about the lineal like its this holy thing going back 100 years, its been broken before though multiple, it realy goes back 16 years to Lewis who retired with it.
And okey Fury never lost it in the ring but neither did Jefferies and he came back years later, was he still the lineal champion at that time and if so why is Marvin Hart and Tommy Burns still considered lineal champions?
Shouldnt Fury have been stripped of the lineage when he didnt fight for over 2 years?

You don’t need to fight a top opponent to keep the Lineal title. It’s the Ring that gave the criteria. Have to fight a Ring rated top 5 every 2 years at least. That’s why Adonis was stripped. Same reason why Fury was eventually stripped.Thunder and Lightning wrote: ↑03 May 2019, 04:24Why is Fury still considered the Lineal champion?

No one owns the Lineal. No governing body or any orgs.
The closes thing to Lineal is CZB, TBRB and The Ring Mag. With the Ring having an actual belt dating back to the 20’s.
Ring has been criticised since 2012 when GBP bought it, TBRB also have some flaws too.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Tom Schwarz - June 15, 2019
Lineal is something of a fantasy accolade, and since it isn't real it can be anything you want it to be. Many consider Fury didn't defend his title, whether or not there was good reason for that, and as such he forfeits his claim to any title real or imagined.
Other people will say "Be that as it may, he was the man who beat the man and he's never been beaten in the ring". I have a certain sympathy with both schools of thought, but it's a harmless and fairly meaningless thing which may increase the claimant's prestige and marketability, but mainly it's just bragging rights.
It doesn't justify spending a lot of time thinking about it in my opinion.

Fury announced his retirement in a snit after his escapade with failed drug tests.
Once you've officially announced that you're quitting, you also renounce your claim to the lineal title.
Just because he returned, doesn't mean Fury can reclaim it. He has to earn it back.
Ali retired in early 1970 and said his belts belonged to the winner of the upcoming Frazier-Ellis fight. That's why Ali was considered the challenger when he faced Frazier in 1971.
If Lennox Lewis came back, is he the lineal champion? No. He too retired and renounced his claim.
But if you somehow believe that Fury is still the lineal champion, then Lewis would deserve the same recognition if he unretired tomorrow.
How is it possible that there would be 2?

..I agree with the post above, once you retire you lose it..
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Tom Schwarz - June 15, 2019
Well that's their choice. Good luck to them but it wouldn't be mine. I guess if Lennox came out of retirement to face Fury it could be described as the former Lineal champion against the current oneRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑03 May 2019, 07:49 Yeah. TBF, it's all Fury's fault. He wanted to stay in the eyes of the media, always chatting beans, trying to catch headlines, announced retirements one day and saying he wanted to be a doctor the next. He caused it himself.
Had he stayed quiet, not mentioned retirement, no one would be arguing today.
Let's be honest, when he DID announce his retirement, did anyone really believe he wasn't going to fight again?
